@troypulk: What do you mean? What error or problem do you see
-
@Ruarí VB-106643 "Unable to install Vivaldi on Debian Linux (Debian Testing)"
-
@DoctorG Well… That does not appear to be a valid comment from this snapshot at first glance (since it is about stable not this snapshot). But in any case, the bug mentions a "Dependency is not satisfiable" error for a package that does actually exist on Debian testing and is of a high enough version on the testing repository. I'd assume therefore they have not run
apt update
in some time.I supect they just need to update their distro and personally I would install directly with
apt
(which I trust over Gdebi).- Make sure the apt local information is up to date via the following command (this is the bit I suspect is key):
sudo apt update
- Then fetch Vivaldi stable like so:
wget https://vivaldi.com/download/vivaldi-stable_amd64.deb -O "${XDG_DOWNLOAD_DIR:-$HOME/Downloads}/vivaldi-stable_amd64.deb"
[Triple-click to select the entire line above]
- Finally install as follows:
sudo apt install "${XDG_DOWNLOAD_DIR:-$HOME/Downloads}/vivaldi-stable_amd64.deb"
[Triple-click to select the entire line above]

@yngve
FYI: At the moment I don't have any problems with the undocked console. No crashes or corrupt profiles.
Everything works fine again. -
I'm typing something in the address bar (a url or a search term) and press enter. What I get is something irrelevant from my typed history. I have to wait for a couple of seconds before hitting enter for vivaldi to use what I've actually typed.

It's been fixed by using apt to install a deb. file instead of gdebi.

It seems like my emails don't synchronize at all:
With the previous Snapshot and the latest stable version I don't have the problem.
-
This post is deleted! -
This Snapshot crashes whenever i open the Vivaldi main V-menu and hover the menu entries.
Windows 11 Pro 23H2
-
@oudstand Which error messages are shown when this happens? Click the envelope button in status bar.
-
@Turandot No crash on Windows 11.
Do you have a special menu user-defined or changed configuration? -
@DoctorG I didn't saw a error message, but when I used Vivaldi the next day (newly started) it was working again.
-
@DoctorG I didn't mess with the menu, no. Of course i have some settings changed, if you are referring to that by "changed config".
It's getting stranger and stranger. Today, my interface language reverted to the default english, and it seems I can't change that. Looks like the whole thing is somehow messed up. I would be grateful if someone could link instructions on how to reset the whole application.
-
@Turandot
Hi, the language issue is a bug, German is not working for example.
Crash with hovering over the menu entries is an old issue for users with more than 7-800 tabs open.
Do you have so many? -
@mib2berlin Thank you, that is some helpful information. So concerning the interface language, instead of resetting the application, I'll be hoping for the next snapshots.
Do you have so many?
Concerning tabs, someone once called me a tab hoarder and that could well be the case. I have lots of workspaces with lots of tabs. So reducing tabs might help, I'll give that a try.
-
@Turandot
There is really a imaginary border at 800 or so, I could reproduce the crash 100% with 1000 tabs but never with 750.
