Vivaldi boosts performance with Memory Saver and auto-detects feeds with its Feed Reader

And it's not just limited to "Otto Tabs", the extension "Group Tabs By Domain", which basically does the same thing, doesn't work either, but it also works in Chrome.
Look this post and the following ones for the solution:

@barbudo2005
Thx a lot, that works -
"Group Tabs By Domain" worked in Vivaldi before version 6.7?
-
thanks for adding memory saver! please take it to the next level and add...

As I've said elsewhere, the so-called Vivaldi on Mac feature of tiling two apps on the screen merely duplicates what the Mac OS already does...while rendering a nice mod broken! :sigh:

@sjudenim I tried to mimic the setup you showed, but the info overlay was still displayed in the bottom left corner like always (Tested on version 6.7.3329.21)
You appear to be using CSS mods, could you test again with them disabled? Otherwise, could you share more info about your setup, like where is the tab bar, address bar, panel, bar status bar, etc.

Thanks for testing. You are correct, there is a conflict. I had locked the size of the tab container to avoid the resizing that accidentally happens too often for me, but in 6.7 it is no longer respecting that value

To be honest, I don't know. I only use Otto Tabs productively. I just saw the other extension, installed it and saw that it doesn't work in the current version.
Then I tested it in chrome and edge and it worked there -
"[Address bar] Improve drop down performance (VB-105358)"
On Linux, typing into addressbar makes it jumping like crazy. It looks like that typed string is fighting with all categories in "Drop-down Menu Priority". That setting is on Default values.
Can't check now, if it is doing on Windows also.

@ReneEhrhardt
Hi, Chrome extensions not work anymore can happen at any time in Vivaldi, specially extensions cross with Vivaldi features.
You can report this to the Otto Tabs developers, some are interested to get it work in Vivaldi, the most are not.
And/or report it to the Vivaldi bug tracker, maybe it easy to fix it from the Vivaldi developers.For information on how to report a bug, see this URL: https://vvld.in/how-to-report-bugs
Once that is done, please share the bug number (beginning with VB-).
Add your vivaldi.net username. Thanks.
On the form, you can add your email address. Once submitted, you'll get a confirmation. You can reply to this with any logs or further info.Cheers, mib

Based on what I'm seeing here, I think I'll stick with my Auto Tab Discard extension, for as long as it works. I have (currently) 145 tabs open, with four pinned Twitch streams, and a fairly steady 1.17GB of memory use by Vivaldi. Everything except the pinned tabs and four or five others is hibernated/discarded. It seems like that's better on average than the Vivaldi version is doing so far.

It is mentioned above, but does memory saver actually improve battery-life?
I'm asking because my laptop has 40GB of RAM so saving memory isn't actually a concern and I'm mostly interested in what improvements to battery life have you guys measured for this feature. -
@Oscar24 hibernated tabs do no consume RAM and CPU. So it will increase battery-life.
But i do not know how much will that extend use of battery until it has to be loaded. -
