Download always goes to ... /downloads folder regardless of settings for default download folder
-
I have gone to Tools / Settings / Downloads and clicked Save File to Default Location Without Asking and also Update Default Location When Choosing Save as Location.
I use Save as to save a download file and select the folder to save it to.
The next time I click on a file to download it, it goes to the Windows default Download folder.
This didn't happen until the last few weeks.
Any suggestions for how to get Vivaldi to save the default download location when I do Save As, and use that when I click on a file to download it?
If I right click on a file and select Save As, it shows the last folder I saved to. But if I just click on the file to download it, it goes to the Windows default folder instead of the one I last saved to in Vivaldi.

@tomgoodell
Hi, if I remember correctly this is a bug, reported and confirmed.
I hope the Vivaldi team get this fixed and published in a next minor update.Cheers, mib

Thank you @mib2berlin I'll keep my fingers crossed ...

I paused using vivaldi just because of this bug, which is very crucial to my work.
has this been solved in the new update patch? -

Really? You can easily use "Save as" to save to the correct folder.

@Dancer18 Yes, but I have to point to the desired folder location each time, which is really annoying and time consuming.

@mkswalkstohell If I want to save several downloads in the same folder, the same selected folder is used immediately from the second one onwards, at least in Linux Mint Cinnamon...
OK, it is different in Windows and annoying. -
This is issue VB-106015. It should be fixed in the latest Snapshot release. We hope to have it ready for Stable soon.

@Dancer18 when I select "Save As" for several downloads, for the first few times, it directs me to the location I selected earlier. But after couple of times (7 or 8 instances), it again resets to the default "Downloads" folder, even if I do "Save As".
In Linux (I use Ubuntu) though, there's no such issue, it runs smoothly.
@daniel Thank you for the update. I really look forward to the new release fixing this issue.
