IMAP mark message as deleted
-
I would very much like the option for "deleting" messages to simply mark the message as deleted. (And then a command & keyboard shortcut to expunge all deleted messages in a mailbox.)

You can always show trashed items in each folder by enablingShow Trash
with the View Filter.
Would that work instead?

@gmg Yes, that should work. Thanks!
Del appears to mark the message as deleted (but does not appear in the Settings > Keyboard > Mail list, although it does appear in the Help page)
- Is it possible to remap it to another key?
- Or much better, can a key be mapped to do "mark as deleted, and then move to next unread message in thread/mailbox"
- What causes an IMAP expunge? I don't see a keyboard shortcut for that (or an icon I can put in the toolbar).

@jtittsler
Hi, it depends where you are, I work always in Unread.
If you hit Del the message disappear in unread and jump to the next mail.
This work in Received and All Messages too but it make no sense to work in All Messages for example.
To my knowledge Vivaldi mail does not support expunge, you have to use Shift+Del to remove a mail for the server.Cheers, mib

@mib2berlin Thanks. I have never used the Unread grouping. (My email is sorted into a couple of dozen folders on the server, which seems to make it easier to deal with context by context.)

@jtittsler
Yeah, I work like this many Years ago before I get into Opera mail called M2.
I still have 3 important folders but I never look in it, it's much faster to use Unread and search using my 5 accounts for me.
I know it is hard to change habits growing over Years.
Have fun with Vivaldi mail, internal called M3.Cheers, mib

- Shift+delete
- Deleting while in the Trash folder,
- Right click on Trash folder in the panel and choosing "Empty Trash"
All of the above should expunge and delete from the server.
There's currently no shortcut key to change the delete functionality, but we should allow that (just hasn't been done yet)
