Manjaro Linux, Vivaldi 6.7.3329.24 and single letter nickname still does not work.
This bug has been around for few months now and it prevents me from using later version.
I am downgrading back to 6.5.3206.48.

Sorry should have post in Linux Desktop.@DoctorG said in Single letter bookmark nickname does not work since:

I inspected bug tracker and saw a fix was done at Sunday, wait for next release of 6.7 Stable or Snapshot.

Awesome stuff, then I will finally be able to upgrade to Viv 6.7, since the performance problem is probably also fixed.

@DoctorG If there is something highlighted in the address bar and you try to type the single letter nickname which will replace it the problem happens. If you use the "delete" or "backspace" key first to clear the address bar the nickname will work as expected
Yes correct, I also saw this. When you type c and then remove it and type c again, then it all of a sudden works.

Still there in 6.7.3329.31.

Could be that issue will be fixed in 6.8 Snapshot.
You can install Vivaldi Snapshot (what is a Snapshot) as Standalone install version, that will not tangle your Vivaldi Stable Settings in case of issues in Snapshot.[Address bar] Single letter bookmark nicknames not working (VB-102765)

You bark up the wrong tree. I do not fix bugs.

Hi, we have told you before, there are thousands of bugs/reports.
I want the Vivaldi team fix my bugs first then the other does not work, it does not depend of easy or hart to fix. -

Yes I understand this, it was not directed to you, but a comment in general. You told me it was going to fixed soon in Viv 6.7, and there have been a lot of new versions lately, so now I'm extra disappointed.

Also, there might be thousands of bugs, but they don't affect me and most other users. Apparantly even with those thousands of bugs, Vivaldi works just fine. The ones that I reported are directly related to user functionality. Because of this particular bug I try to stay away from Viv 6.7, so it's kinda ridiculous, this should be given priority.

Hum, sorry that i was wrong, and delay was causes by dev team.
//edit1: And could be, bad english by myself, that i wrote that "it will be" or "could be" fixed, i do not remember where i did it.
//edit2: And sometimes a bug reappears in later version and so bug is reopened in tracker as not fixed. -

I think you said that a fix was planned for last week Sunday, but perhaps because the developers were so busy, they simply didn't do it. But will we now have to wait for weeks again? Know what I mean? It's getting a bit silly.

@RasheedHolland
I am sorry but this is your priority, nobody knows exactly how the developer choose/decide which bug is tackled.
Sometimes users, me too, think it cant be so hard to fix this with one line of code but this is mostly wrong.
I report a bug a Year ago or something and the developer answer, the structure of X has changed and we need to change 10 other thing first to fix your bug.
This bug break my and other users workflow on Android completely but it is like it is.Cheers, mib

@RasheedHolland Created my own work-around for this. First if you enable "Start Page" for new Tabs the address bar is focused and cleared. It can accept a single letter nickname immediately. I wasn't doing anything with Speed Dial so I just repurposed it to be used with this (what appears for me as Start Page in new Tabs).
Next I made a Command Chain like this:
I had a prime gesture I wasn't using anymore and assigned it to this new Chain. This will "Focus Address Bar+slight delay+Cut anything in the bar". Address bar will accept any single key nickname afterwards. Now all I have to do is get use to the "Swipe-Left" gesture I assigned to activate it
Only down side is that if you already have something in the copy paste buffer it will be wiped with the "Cut" command. Though I don't normally use single key shortcuts with paste.

I haven't seen any major new features lately and all of the bugs that were fixed didn't improve Vivaldi for me personally.
The bugs that I reported are like a year old or so. Adding a mouse gesture for ''tab stacking by host'', shouldn't be hard. Fixing the ''text on top of images copy bug'' shouldn't be hard. And fixing the ''one character nickname bug'' shouldn't be hard either.

You're free to do so. It's the only thing you can do actually, you can't decide or tell Vivaldi how to work, deal with it. Unless you can buy Vivaldi and tell them how to work

Sorry, forgot to reply. But to be honest, I didn't understand everything and it seems a lot of work and it still doesn't even fix it completely. But thanks for the effort.

Yes, that's what I'm trying to explain, I'm free to complain and to disagree with the Vivaldi team. Obviously I can't decide which bugs they fix or which features they should add, I don't see the point of even mentioning this. But if I was in charge, I would do things differently.
You have to understand, I'm still using Vivaldi 6.1 (Win 10) and Vivaldi 5.7 (Win 8.1) so those ''thousands of bugs'' they have fixed in the mean time, didn't improve anything for me. Well, except for the performance bug that was introduced in Viv 6.4, supposedly this is now fixed in 6.7, after a couple of months of complaining.

I noticed that Vivaldi 6.1 is rendering certain websites a bit slowly because of high CPU usage, I don't get this in Viv 6.7, so I would like to be able to finally upgrade. Hopefully the performance problems are solved too.
