Small Chromium bump [déjà vu] – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 3256.4

@killchain
I'm pretty sure that there are already threads about this problem in the forums (and therefore already bug reports) -
Ah, finally the offending extension is found and no more annoying warnings...
Who would have guessed it was the old and never used Apps Launcher from google... -
This post is deleted! -
@killchain Looks like my fix in VB-103404 isn't working properly, I'll re-open it.
-
@derday: Also sounds like it could have worsened because of [Address bar] When typing into the address bar and hitting enter quickly, some characters are dropped (VB-103404). We have had several fixes targeting the issue you mention afai remember, but remnant issues still pop up for some people, so dont hesitate to create new bugs when you hit this/other issues in the snapshots.
-
@ugly: If memory serves me right, I think I recently saw duplicated extension icons - and I haven't ever used Extensity. I haven't seen it more than once or twice and I haven't tried to reproduce it.
-
Domain expansion no longer works. It doesn't add the ".com" suffix and go to the URL. (Linux x86-64)

No Friday Snapshot in … FebRuarí?

Address bar][Themes] Selection does not use themes highlight color (VB-92801)
While I understand why some would want this for consistency between the theme and selection colour, I'm not sure it's a good idea. IMO it was better with the colour being consistent between the url bar selection and the web page selection. I.e. determined by the default OS selection colour (or is it set by Blink?)
Some users (not me!) might set their highlight very similar to the background, and so will now have a really hard time telling when the url is selected or not.
I like this new feature. it works fine with my custom theme.
I don't mind if it will be a separate option.
I also noticed that address bar loading thing is using highlight color too? More precisely - based on highlight color. I wish I could change it manually.
Tabs loading animation is also new!

Is it really? The main thing I noticed about the address bar loading is it now clashes with everything else! (Shows up as blue in my mostly red/black theme.)
Edit: oh no, you're right. Apparently my highlight is blue, while accent is red. I suppose it just stands out since I have tabs-at-bottom; so the window and address bar are one block of red on a new tab.
-
@mossman Yes, I also found the blue highlight when loading distracting so I changed it to Accent:
/* Pageload Indicator */ .UrlBar-AddressField .pageload .pageload-indicator { background-color: var(--colorAccentBg) !important; }
IMO it should use Accent, Highlight is for highlighting parts of the UI, like buttons etc.
I have such a fast network so I don't need to see the page loading state clearly

I agree - also because the accent can be set to change with the webpage, so in my case the rest of the UI changes to match e.g. blue for this forum, red for BBC News etc. - the address bar shouldn't break those colour schemes.

I agree too: loading bar (inside the address bar, isn’t it?) should stay the same color as the tab bar, as it always was until now (ie: on Stable channel).

Maybe
Or just new settings for colors in Address Bar.I also never understood why
Accent on Page
andAccent on Window
options are enabled by default
It's so distracting! -

It's so distracting!I have accent on page (but not on window)... which, with tabs on bottom, makes the UI surrounding the page blend in. I find this to be quite a pleasing effect.
Edit: e.g., for this very page:
-
@mossman I prefer classic layout when tabs on top

I think you'll find the CLASSIC format is tabs on bottom...

That's not how I remember Opera!
The peak version was 11.6x iirc -
@Stardust Noob!

But seriously, I always preferred to separate the tabs from the address bar etc. having got used to that in Opera 4 (and 5, I think) - and since Windows MDI used to stack minimised windows at the bottom like that... it was actually a standard! Also, when everything's at the top (menu bar, address bar(s), tab bar, bookmark bar, status bar) it all becomes very cluttered - so I prefer to break it up around the page content.
Then Firefox came in and copied Opera's multiple window idea but got it wrong (no actual windows, just a tab-switch on top), and Opera moved the bar to the top after whining from new users that it wasn't like Firefox. I put it back on the bottom as soon as that was an option and have kept it that way ever since...
