@trade2424 Which tabs/extensions consume most CPU? Check with Shift+Esc the Vivaldi task manager ( can sort by CPU in list) while Vivaldi is running.

Hi, do you have maybe Lazy Loading disabled in Settings > General?
        Default is enabled.
If you work on 50-60 tabs in a session and restart Vivaldi it has to load all tabs at start, this can freeze Vivaldi to dead for minutes if you have hundreds of tabs open.

Opensuse Tumbleweed x86_64 KDE 5, Windows 11 Pro, Vivaldi latest

I had it enabled. I changed it to disabled

Only 4 tabs open, no more.
          BTW
In previous versions of Opera, 10-20 tabs were open without any problems...

I have only two extensions: GNOME Shell integration and google translator... Perhaps one of them is causing freezing?

I have no idea but this can happen after an update of Vivaldi.
Start Vivaldi from a terminal with --disable-extensions for a test.

Maybe you monitor if something happen on your system during the freeze.
Disk activity, CPU or memory spikes but this is really just guessing.
I am sorry but I am out ideas now.

Is there any plan for Vivaldi to implement auto tab suspension to save power, resources, and speed? It seems reasonable since Vivaldi is steering towards supporting multiple tab management which can be quite heavy after a few hours of online work. I can go days without closing Vivaldi browser and it ads up. I need to manually close down and reopen. My tabs are isolated to workspaces and restore, but not into memory thereby making browser fast again. It doesn't need to be fully featured yet; maybe just an option of time a tab is inactive before suspension. There's a lot of plugins available, but they are hit and miss with tons of side effects including loss of tabs entirely. I'd prefer Vivaldi just built in the feature as a staple maintenance feature. Or does it already do that and I missed seeing the option?

Hi and yes, the Chromium developer implement this some time ago but you cant reach the setting in Vivaldi.
                          Open
                          chrome://settings/performance
                          to enable it.
There is a flag to add more settings to it, Time, Heuristic and so forth.
                          chrome://flags/#memory-saver-multi-state-mode

These flags are always experimental, if you don't need this leave it default.

                          Cheers, mib

Aha, Vivaldi don't freeze, it crash.
Only the render engine crash not the whole browser, it start automatically again and this take a few seconds.
I bet this is a driver/Vivaldi/GPU issue, disable hardware acceleration in Settings > Webpages to test this.
Depends on your hardware it may slowdown video streaming, for example.
Please check if you have crash logs, it could be a lot.
