Trojan Alert from Windows Defender
-
Hi all.
I'm happy user of Vivaldi and I really like it. No problems so far. But today I've decided to try Vivaldi mail and I've added one of my emails to it (I'm saying this just because if it has something with it). And after a while, Windows defender notified me that there is a potential threat. I'll post two screenshot below:
Threat 1:
Threat 2 (this one goes on and there is many more similar lines, I just haven't screenshotted all:
What do you think it is? I would think it is false positive, but I let you know, just for sure
Thanks for all,
Matej -
If the Vivaldi mail account is enabled, then your data will be stored in the Vivaldi directories. If one of those emails is infected with a virus, Windows Defender will warn you. Of course, this is nothing to do with any fault in Vivaldi, and Windows Defender is working as it should to protect you from malware.

Yep, makes sense. I will go over email to see if there is anything suspicious. The funny thing is, for few years now I was using MS Outlook and I had no notifications of that kind.
-
@matejmohar You should know that Windows Defender can also nag you with False Alerts.
-
I know this and the more I think about it, false positive most likely happened, because this is my work email and although I have many emails, I delete (even from trash) all spammy ones and only keep important ones.
Anyway, thanks for all the input.

@matejmohar Is a good idea to clear the cache perodically:

Vivaldi is a Chromium browser, you get alerts with cache from Defender. Hmmm.
I do not know, but for me it seems Windows Defender has some strange malware detection or a broken malware database.I use The Bat! as Mail client, which has a Chromium core, uses same cache structure to display HTML mails, and i never got alerts. And i get many many HTML mails a day in my office.

I will clean the cache and see if this will repeat.
Thanks
