Vivaldi 6.2, Group Speed Dial, and Private Window issueses
-
I want to start by saying VERY NICE JOB. I've already noticed the speed increase, and the quick history eraser is great.
Now to the issue I ran into. I have a couple of sites that I can only sign into if I open them in a private window. Since it's just the two sites I haven't bothered to try to track down why they won't login in a normal window. I can say it's not browser specific cause regardless of browser used I have to use a private window for the two sites. This morning after receiving the 6.2 update I went into extensions to allow Good Speed Dial to load in a private window. once I did that the Good Speed Dial tab closed. No big deal cause just clicked the + to relaunch it. The issue came in at it was now missing all it's images and two other extensions chose to reinstall, not simply update but reinstall. I have sync enabled and logged in but I also have a backup of my user folder. I shut down Vivaldi and replaced the user folder with my backup and all looks good again as long as I don't allow Good Speed Dial to run in a private window. The thing is the other day I allowed Good Speed Dial to run in private windows and did not have any issue arise, so it looks like something in Vivaldi 6.2 has a issue with something in Good Speed Dial. I'd post Vivaldi's logs but I'm not finding where they are located.

There's not a lot Vivaldi can do about misbehaving extensions. Best bet is to contact the extension developer.
New Tab extensions have their own problems in Vivaldi and have for years. Vivaldi has its own new tab page (Start Page).Sounds like more than one issue here, and it's confusing to read. Try to break your issue(s) down into individual issues and make a list.
You don't say what sites you have problems with, and you say it's in other browsers so that's not a Vivaldi problem.
Most likely failing to log in because of some extensions interfering, that's why it works in a private window (no extensions).
Most likely you have the same extensions installed in the other browsers as well.I will try a quick test of this "Good Speed Dial" extension.
Update: There is no "Good Speed Dial" extension in the store:

@Pathduck It's "Group"

Might want to read the part of my post where I made it clear that before the recent Vivaldi update I had done this and had no issue With the extension behaving in a private window. As for the site I didn't mention them cause they are not the issue. They obviously have a issue opening in a normal browser window, that is on the people who put those sites together no Vivaldi. The only issue mentioned by me is Group Speed Dial playing nicely with Vivaldi private windows prior to the latest Vivaldi update.

Well I guess 6.2 broke your extension. There's a bajillion extensions out there, and Vivaldi's UI layer makes some of them break, and Vivaldi's developers can't spend time trying to figure out why each and every one behaves differently.
Time to find another extension or use Vivaldi's Start Page?

@Pathduck Now that's a response I can understand and respect. As for switching extensions not just for basically what's 2 or 3 sites that misbehave.
