Unsolved "Save files to default location without asking" not working
-
Any file I download I am prompted for a save location. I hate it! I have already told Vivaldi not to ask me and just download the file via a default location because I have already specified AND I AM STILL PROMPTED FOR A SAVE LOCATION! AHHHH!
I have already looked for a solution via the web and nothing seems to work.
I'm here to see if anybody has a solution that I maybe have overlooked.Thank you.

Do you select the URL of the file to be saved or right-click and select Save as?
FWIW the former downloads the file without prompts but the latter does prompt.

@BlahBlahBlah Hi - check at:
chrome://settings/downloads
For some reason, some users have that setting set to ask. For the Vivaldi settings to work as expected, it should always be off.
My guess is some extensions might set that setting.

Just tried this and I do not know what I am doing wrong. I did a right click after highlighting the URL but there was no download option.

Try the following:
- select Settings > Downloads > Save Files to Default Location without Asking, as highlighted below:
- select https://downloads.vivaldi.com/stable/vivaldi-stable_6.1.3035.257-1_amd64.deb
โ
File is saved to default location without prompting
- select Settings > Downloads > Save Files to Default Location without Asking, as highlighted below:

When you use right-click "Save As" it will always prompt for a name/location.
It's kind of in the name "Save As..."

Is there a workaround so that I do not have to keep right clicking "save as?" Maybe a button "save" or a hotkey or an add-on or something?

@BlahBlahBlah Depends what you're trying to save and on the site and how it serves files.
If the site serves executables or other binaries, you usually can just click the link to save.
If you're saving images it depends. Some sites don't want you to save images at all and will block any right-click menu or hide the fact it's an image from the browser.
If the image opens as a link, for instance to a full size image, you can use
Alt+click
to save it directly.
Try it here for example:
https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/
https://www.w3schools.com/css/css_image_gallery.aspOr you can of course just open it and use
Ctrl+S
or the File > Save menu.Do you have an example link to a site?
