google-translate extension: no floating symbol for translation
-
Google-translate does the best job for me, so i added the extension (original from chrome-webstore) for on-the-fly translation with a floating symbol, when marking text.
But this button does not show up. In extension-settings "showing symbol" is ticked.I temporary allowed pop-ups in vivaldi-settings. Didn't change anything.
Any suggestions?

@heidi-hoh Hi, make sure the GT popup is not hidden behind the Vivaldi Translate popup icon.
If you don't need it, disable the Vivaldi Translate popup in Settings > Webpages.
I temporary allowed pop-ups in vivaldi-settings. Didn't change anything.
Popup settings has no effect on this, it's not the same thing.

@Pathduck this function in vivaldi/lingvanex is already disabled.
(Yes, enable popup was just a test. Didn't really believe it was the problem)

@heidi-hoh Then I really don't know what it might be. It works for me...
Please try the troubleshooting steps, including testing in a clean profile and disabling adblocking/extensions:

Just found out:
-
Symbol shows up here in community (reading posts)
-
Symbol shows up in one tab with ...://www.google.com/search after allowing 3rd parties cookies and then instantly forbid 3rd parties cookies again (for this website).
-
Symbol does not show up on any other website so far.
(not in this pop-up for writing posts here***, not for any more tabs with google-search results) -
if i open a new tab with google search and enable (that's not enough) and instantly disable 3rd p-cookies, this tab shows the symbol
I think, it's a cookie-thing....
-
-
Now, the pop-up for postings here is showing the symbol, after my first attempt to answer was blocked because of "spam bla blah".
-
after closing and reopening vivaldi, none of the site from previous post shows up the symbol anymore...
the enable/disable 3rd p-cookies "trick" does not work anymore....

Maybe the solution (but i don't know why it worked in some special situation before with different setting):
In vivaldi-settings for google-translate i have to allow google-translate to have access "on all webpages". Before, it was "with/after click" (don't know in English).
Sounds logical.@Pathduck you have done the same setting?
