HDCP Error detected
-
Not specifically a Vivaldi prob, but:
Trying to watch a livetv stream (Aus - 7plus), and can’t get it to work in Vivaldi or Firefox on Tumbleweed or Ubuntu (hdcp error detected ie indicating HDMI cable is not up to scratch…) but works ok with Vivaldi/Edge on Win11, all on the same PC/monitor, triple booting off a single SSD.
Everything else works fine.
Any thoughts? -
@hornetster The HDMI cable you are using, is likely defective and possibly cannot handle the stream. There are newer cables labeled Premium High-Speed and Ultra High-Speed, which should be able to handle streams.

@edwardp But.... Works in win 11.

@hornetster Check if your Linux has some special hardware relate firmware to be updated.

@DoctorG
Don't believe so.... -
@hornetster since Chromium has some facility to detect HDCP-enabled output, the web player may just use that and refuse to work.
There seems currently to be no HDCP support on Linux via Widevine.
