YouTube videos unplayable when full screen
-
When YouTube video is not full screen, it plays fine. But when you make it full screen, it instantly gets super laggy and stops working properly.
-
@Aashishkebab, have you checked if there are applications using a lot of usage in the task manager?
If there's none (that you think), try Troubleshooting for Desktop.
-
@Aashishkebab If your PC is lagging, reduce the default quality of YouTube videos — 720p is probably adequate — I use 480p. Maximum for my monitor is 1080p.
-
@Pesala no. Why should I worsen my viewing experience because of a buggy browser on my 7900 XTX and 7950X3D?
-
@Aashishkebab If the video no longer lags, surely that will improve your viewing experience while you try to identify the cause by following the troubleshooting steps?
-
@Pesala or they could fix their extremely buggy browser with dozens of bugs? I shouldn't need to troubleshoot on my end.
It's also not the quality, it's full screen mode.

@Aashishkebab It is impossible that the developers could fix any bugs without proper reports from those users who come across them.
For me, Fullscreen video CPU use jumps from about 20% to 85% if I increase the quality from 480p to 1080p. I see no lagging either way.
I assume that your gaming CPU is more powerful than my two years old PC. Also an AMD Ryzen processor.

Yeah that's not normal. Your CPU usage shouldn't be so high on any modern CPU when simply watching a video, unless it's 4k 60fps HDR.
When I closed and reopened the tab it fixed itself, so it's clearly a bug.

almost same thing. after switching gpu from rx 5700xt to rtx 4090 youtube after viewing few videos or shorts starts slideshow and fps dropping to 5-15fps on 60fps video and worst when fullscreen. pc specs - ryzen 5900x, 32gb ddr 3600 and full ssd on win11. before i switched gpu i didn't have problems with performance (everything except gpu was same).
and i forget about more annoying thing - after switching tab from youtube and when i return and start video - whole browser window re-render and i see white window for few seconds -
