Youtube - low video quality
-
Not sure what's going on, but for a while now youtube keeps on dumbing down my video quality. Starts at (auto) 720p, then within a few seconds 480p, then shortly after 360p.
I then manually change to 720p and it stays there.
Tested in Edge, and it seems fine. Same video starts in 1080p and stays there.
I normally change the speed to 1.5 or 1.75x depending on what i'm watching, which i thought could be the issue as it may not give it enough time to buffer. But even if i don't it still happens, and doesn't happen on Edge.
Anyone run into similar issues?
Running V6.1.3035.204.

@7twenty Could be a extension.
As a text try Guest Profile and tell if that works.Or internet xonnection (VPN?).
Every video or some special, please give a URL?

Hmmm yeah, i wouldn't be surprised if uBlock is causing it.

Already using a Guest profile, but might try that out on a fresh standalone install.
Or internet xonnection (VPN?).
No VPN.

I'd say 95%+ affected since i've been looking out for it, there might have been 1 or 2 where it didn't happen... i think.
A little annoyed at myself, as i'd' normally work my way through this before making a thread like this. Thanks for the pointers though.

@7twenty
Hi, some user report issues with Vivaldi stable because it is still Chromium 114.
If you try a standalone install may use the snapshot (Beta) version 6.2. it is based on Chromium 116.Cheers, mib

@mib2berlin Vivaldi uses the extended stable release and also there was an update to Vivaldi stable.
I think it is a Youtube bug with their Auto quality (seen it in another browser where it says auto 1080p but the quality I see it around 240)

@Chas4 I'm using this to lock my quality to 1080

@Chas4
It seems some pages and services simply doesn´t work with Chromium 114 anymore.
I set "Prefer AV 1" in the Youtube settings, set res to 720p and this stay then, 6.1 and 6.2.
Restart Vivaldi or the whole system does not change this.
As Youtube push changes or new features only for some user it is a bit hard to test this.Cheers, mib
