cpu spikes while using mouse on YouTube
-
I have installed Vivaldi a few days ago and I have a problem with using YouTube. Normally, when I play a video on YouTube my cpu usage is somewhere around 3%. The instant I start hovering my mouse pointer above the player or the side panel with recommendations, cpu usage spikes to about 60% (which is annoying because fans start spinning in my laptop). When I stop moving my mouse, after a few seconds the cpu usage gets back to normal. Any ideas what can be the cause of this?

I have tried: https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/troubleshoot/troubleshooting-issues/
but didn't find anything helpful. @Zojj
Hi, maybe an extension cause this ,test this in the guest view.
Vivaldi://gpu looks fine to me.https://help.vivaldi.com/article/guest-view/

Thank you for your reply. I have already tried this as one of the steps described in: https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/troubleshoot/troubleshooting-issues/
In the guest view the problem is exactly the same. What else can I try? -
@Zojj
I can only guessing now, nobody else reported such an issue iirc.
Do you have a special mouse, track ball or something?
Some user report issues with a 5 key mouse, respectively the driver and Vivaldi. -

I have logitech g102. I have also tried disconnecting mouse, restarting browser and using trackpad instead. The high cpu usage remains. I've also noticed that if I just leave my cursor on the red line indicating the progress of the video (while the video is playing) the cpu usage jumps to 45% and stays like that until I move the cursor somwhere else. Scrolling through youtube feed results in the same behaviour.

@Zojj
I am sorry, out of ideas.
Testing this with playing a 4K video in full screen and on my second display scrolling through a Youtube page, the CPU is max. 20% and I have a AMD Ryzen 7 iGPU not such a powerful GPU as yours.Cheers, mib
