Vivaldi Password Manager
-
Hello everyone, everything good?
I wanted to know if the password manager that Vivaldi has here is it safe and encrypted?
There are several password manager programs on the market, I have to use one, if so, tell me which one is the best.
Now if the Vivalde password manager uses Cryptographic and secure, tell me too. -

Now if the Vivalde password manager uses Cryptographic and secure, tell me too.No, it's not safe. The reason is because it makes use of the built-in password manager from Chromium, just like Chrome, Opera, Edge and Brave.
The problem is, that encryption is very weak, so malware will easily be able to steal login data and unencrypt it. I have asked Vivaldi to develop a new and safe password manager, but they are giving priority to other less important things in my view, so I'm a bit disappointed.

@carlinhosnewstyle Use KeepassXC or Keepass, both are free and store a encrypted database on your PC.

You can do this by installing Secure Folders and set Vivaldi's profile folder to the Locked status. Of course Vivaldi itself should become a trusted process. It's a free tool, see link. And of course if you save Vivaldi's login data to a text file, make sure to encrypt this.

I’ve used both. Usually works well but constantly get “Corrupted Database” errors. Using a backup of the db does not always help.
Currently using Microsoft’s Authenticator on my iPad and Android tablet.
Not a great choice… looking for another option.
Sophos has an app that contains a password manager and One Time Password option, maybe.
Others, there are many, but some do not work on Linux, or Window, or Android, or my iPad.
Also I have trust issues:- who writes these things?
- who supports them financially
- are they tied to their sponsors
- even though many are Open Source they need financial backing and their sponsors may request data to be sent back to them…
These are all the things (and more) that bounce around my brain when I think of these apps.
I think too much. -

Hi, I use the Chromium password manager in Vivaldi for a long time, never had issues with it.
I don´t save really important passwords in any password manager.
Third party manager get corrupted, loose user data or there server get hacked, this was lately a big problem.https://password-managers.bestreviews.net/faq/which-password-managers-have-been-hacked/
If the Vivaldi team decide it is save I trust them, if it were not save they had implement an own solution.
Cheers, mib
