Vivaldi is getting crashed from bookmarks bar
-
In the bookmark bar, I have many folders and now on the arrow dropdown when clicking on that and hovering over the folders browser is crashing.

@ishan04
Hi, I cant reproduce this hovering or open the pull down menu many times.
Vivaldi 6.1.3035.204, Windows 11.
Extensions and third party security software can crash Vivaldi.
To test Vivaldi without extensions edit your desktop shortcut with adding--disable-extensions

Hi, I have the same problem, but straight from the bookmark button (add bookmark).
I've been having problems for a long time, it was opening, but I couldn't save any pages. I even reinstalled the browser, and it worked fine for some time, then it stopped working again and never touched it until now. I assume it's something stored in my account, and when I connected with the account and everything synced it started going nuts again. Is there a way to reset the account on your side? I only had bookmarks and tabs synced so I don't mind resetting it. Except if it affects stuff posted or uploaded themes on the web.
I even tried now opening without extensions: https://youtu.be/EM_uAmaZ0sI
Running version: 6.1.3035.111 (Stable channel) (64-bit)

@ishan04 I can not reproduce your issue on 6.1.3035.205 Win 11 22H2. No crashes.

@unixaxwell Please check Troubleshooting issues.

Perhaps a broken bookmarks data file.
for a test, what i would try:
Logout from Sync
By menu File → Export Bookmakrs… export bookmarks as HTML file
Close Vivaldi
As a backup for later move file Bookmarks from folder%LOCALAPPDATA%\Vivaldi\User data\Default\
to Desktop
Start Vivaldi
By menu File → Import from Applications or Files… do Import HTML bookmarks file
Test bookmarks bar again -
@DoctorG I will do the screen recording and share...
How can I check the crash logs??

@ishan04
Hi, can you reproduce this in a clean profile?
Export your bookmarks, create a new profile, import bookmarks, test.
All tester and developer use a clean profile for testing but maybe the crash log help developers why Vivaldi crash.Cheers, mib
-
@mib2berlin Ok.. I will check and update asap.
-
I can reproduce the crash with Vivaldi 6.2.3105.48 (Stable channel) (64 bits) on Arch Linux running Gnome Wayland session. However, I can't reproduce on another linux distribution called neon unstable running KDE Plasma Wayland session.
I have just reported the crash as VB-100096.

@Strangiato
Hi and thanks for the report.
The crash log should help the developers.
I cant reproduce it so I cant confirm the report.
By the way, Wayland is not officially supported from Vivaldi.Cheers, mib

The crash occurs even if my Vivaldi runs on Xwayland instead of natively on Wayland.
