Plays Only Audio in Videos
-
I want when I open a video, only plays audio because sometimes my internet is getting slow. Videos take a long time to load. This feature maybe only available in web panels but even in normal tabs it would be great.

@Pardus Impossible, IMO. The slow loading of videos is due to their large size. Hiding the video display is not going to make the slightest difference.
Most video playing sites, like YouTube, have a settings button to change the quality. To save bandwidth, I set my default to 480p.

There are extensions that can do this but I don' t want install any extensions for this. OK set 480p.

@Pardus What extensions can do this?
-
The app Newpipe (Floss) do it in Android. I use it outside to save bandwidth. Look this post:

You can do it with this script:
https://greasyfork.org/es/scripts/5566-youtube-links/code
Follow this instructions:
1.- Copy the code and paste it in a text editor.
2.- Save it to a file in a safe place (don't delete it) with the name "YTLinks.user.js".
3.- Drag it to the Extension page with the Developer Mode On.
4.- It is installed:
5.- Go to YouTube and hover the mouse to the resolution icon:
6.- You get this:
7.- In the Audio section on the icon of M4A, context menu and "Open link in new tab"
8.- You obtain this:
9.- You also can download it:
There are many TV and Radio programs that don't have Audio podcasts but they are in YT, so I used it many years to send it to my celular, until I found Newpipe.
Enjoy.

@Pardus That looks like a good solution for those on a slow connection, or who pay for bandwidth. I did not realise that audio-only streams were available.
At one point, Vivaldi used to overheat my CPU and cause a hard reboot if I was playing high-resolution video (1024p), which is full resolution on my 1920x1280 landscape monitor. I solved that by setting my default to 480p.
For most videos the lower quality hardly matters. Now, I can play at full resolution without issues, but I just use the lower setting to save electricity and the planet. If I want to watch a nature program like Cheetahs I temporarily switch the quality up to 1024p.
