Can I manage credit cards on the desktop app?
-
I want to add a credit card to Vivaldi so I can use it later (er, tomorrow; I want to buy a ticket to a concert that I'm worried will fill up fast, so I want to save all the time I can in the checkout process). It looks like Vivaldi's settings on desktop has a checkbox for "autofill credit cards" but there's no way to enter or edit payment information. This seems pretty bad, as I was hoping to enter my credit card information and then delete it later, when I'm done making my purchase (I try to limit what devices have my credit card number).
It seems the mobile app (I'm using Android) does have a place in the settings page where you can enter/edit/delete credit card information. Does this information sync to desktop Vivaldi? And, is there someplace in desktop Vivaldi that I've missed where you can enter/edit/delete credit card information? (I've searched the forum and found suggestions to use vivaldi://settings/autofill, but now that just seems to redirect to the overall Vivaldi settings page, where, like I said, all I can find on it is the checkbox for "autofill credit cards.")
(And in case any of you had these questions: yes, the ticket site lets you reserve a ticket for a certain amount of time while you enter your credit card information, but I want to reduce the risk that I'll fumble under pressure and typo my card information, losing me precious time; and no, the ticket site does not store your credit card information, so yes, I'll have to enter it—or have Vivaldi enter it—at the time of purchase.)

@TinaRussell Hi,
but there's no way to enter or edit payment information.
True, it's a bit of an oversight from Vivaldi's side - there's no UI in Vivalid to add this, it's still hidden in the Chromium settings.
Does this information sync to desktop Vivaldi?
I have no idea, you're going to have to test.
I've searched the forum and found suggestions to use vivaldi://settings/autofill
Yes, this part is confusing. It's NOT
vivaldi://
. To access Chromium internal pages, you have to usechrome://
.
But people are sloppy and just paste urls without understanding that the "protocol" part has changed, and that's not very helpful as it won't work.CC settings are under Autofill:
chrome://settings/autofill
Direct url to payments will be:
chrome://settings/payments
By default, "Save and fill payment methods" is enabled. This is controlled by the Vivaldi setting. You can add CCs here.
When you add a CC, it specifically states "Saved to this device only" which seems to indicate it's not synced. But that text is for Chrome of course, no no idea if it's different for Vivaldi.
When you hit a CC form, it should give you an option to fill it and even a helpful link to the payment methods page.
However, you can't get there before actually filling out a CC first manually. I don't think Vivaldi/Chromium automatically saves CC information, that would be bad.
Not sure what "Allow sites to check if you have payment methods saved" means. Maybe for some sites, they are able to check and then request a CC form to be filled without selecting the card first.

Right, I tried entering my payment information on the mobile app and by the next morning, it had not synched to the desktop app. But! I tried what you said (with the "chrome" URLs) and it worked! I was able to enter my payment information and then use it later when I bought the ticket. Thank you very much!
