Flicker lines flash in tab area
-
I am using latest Vivaldi 6.1.3035.100 (Stable channel) 64 bit.
Since Vivaldi 6.x upgraded, when I moving/hovering mouse in Vivaldi window area, flicker lines appear and disappear quickly in empty tab areas (Tabs are in window left side), looking like some drawing actions wrongly executed.
Please refer to below screen shots captured on flashing lines.
Safe mode reproduced.
Normal mode having more lines:
Is it a known issue? And when would it be fixed? It is very annoying during Vivaldi usage.

Hi, you are the first user report this for Vivaldi 6.0 but this has happen for other releases, too.
To test it is a GPU/driver issue with Vivaldi disable hardware acceleration in Settings > Webpages and restart Vivaldi.
If this stop the flashing we can test some flags or driver settings.Cheers, mib

Hi,
I just upgrade my NVidia RTX3080 to latest driver 536.23, this issue still reproduced.
I disabled Vivaldi setting of hardware accelaration, smooth scrolling, and text selection in links, this issue still presented.
BTW, I found a high probability way to reproduce this issue. In this forum https://www.4d4y.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?fid=7 (Sorry for the Chinese, I did not find any English Discuz forum can easily produce this issue), if you hover mouse and stay on one link of thread, you would see the flinker line with 80%+ chance.

Hi, I don´t have a Nvidia card anymore, can you check if the driver create a profile for Vivaldi?
Browser doesn´t need profiles, some user report this can make problems.
Try to disable VSync, this is for gaming but can make glitches in Vivaldi. One flag you can test, some need to enable it, some to disable it:
vivaldi://flags/#enable-gpu-rasterization
Cheers, mib

Thanks very much for your suggestion.
I only have GPU driver profiles for games. And V-Sync is set to G-Sync mode thus unlikely impact Vivaldi.
vivaldi://flags/#enable-gpu-rasterization worked for this issue. The original value was "default".
After changing to "enabled" and restarted Vivaldi, this flicker issue disappeared.
Then I switched this flag to "disabled" and "default" again, this issue did not show up. Very strange bahviors but everything is OK now.I am guessing my Vivaldi user profile can be traced back to 1.x version, through countless Vivaldi upgrades and Windows OS re-installations. Maybe some flags/configures went wrong during upgrade.

This issue reproduced today.
And I finally found the root cause of this issue.
I set Vivaldi theme to be switched by time. Dark theme "human" would be used after 20:00, light theme "beach" would be used between 7:00 and 20:00.This issue would disapper when using "human" theme and appear when using "beach" theme.

Hm, I am sorry no idea how one could reproduce this without the same hardware.
I use the Beach theme since ever in my Vivaldi stable test installs with Nvidia, AMD and Intel GPU.
By the way, we have many many reports about VSync/GSync influence Vivaldi video streaming and UI glitches.
Maybe it is not the reason of your issue but we have this since years.Cheers, mib
