[BUG] Web page freezes pseudo-randomly when switching tab
-
Hi, since the first public release of V6 I've had some random 5 seconds freezes of pages when switching back to them. The UI and the rest of the browser stays responsive.
Today I found a replicable way to display this freezing. https://www.soundimports.eu/en/dayton-audio-tcp115-4.html On this page (and most of this site is having this switch-freeze frequently) when opening the datasheet pdf and closing the pdf tab or switching back to the page the 5 seconds freeze happens >90% of the time.
I've had this freeze with and without extensions.

@iyo13 I just checked with 6.1.3035.51 Win 11 and could not reproduce it. No delay or freeze.
Sometime the server who delivers the PDF datasheets is slow or not reachable.What happens in Guest profile? Or with a test profile (make no settings, add no extensions!)?

@DoctorG
How do I do that ? If I log out of sync I'll keep all my settings on my physical system. Or did I misunderstood what is a profile ?Nevermind I found it, I needed a few tries but managed, on a guest profile, to get the freezes.
The pdf loads just as fine as any other time without freezes.
Edit2 : I was on the latest 6.0, just updated to 6.1, no changes.

@iyo13 How many tabs have you opened and how many Vivaldi windows when this happens?
Does it happen to other tabs, too, or only between PDF tab and speaker page tab? -
@DoctorG Just the one I linked is enough, even with a fresh start or a guest profile with all other windows closed.
It happens randomly to other tabs too but on this page it is repeatable so I used it to submit this report.I have a screen recording and a dev-tool performance recording of it. I don't know if I can post it here as they are about 30 MB each.
Edit: Sometimes it happens on the first try, sometimes I need to repeat the procedure up to 5 times and at first the switches are just a bit laggy.

@iyo13 If you want to report to Vivaldi bug tracker, upload the recording to imgur.com (I guess the video can not be compressed to less than 8 Mbyte, tracker has a restriction in upload size?) and add link to the videos to report.
Hopeful the developers can check what it is. -
@iyo13 A issue which is not easy to reproduce.
My other ideas what can cause it.
- do you start Vivaldi with special paramaters?
- Had you made any GPU settings in page
vivaldi://flags
, settings in pagevivaldi://experiments
? - Are GPU drivers the latest from chip/card manufacturer?
- Any special GPU settings panel for Gaming/Sync/GSync?
- What is shown in page
vivaldi://gpu
Copy text and post with </> button here

@DoctorG
vivaldi://flags : I have the set the ANGLE graphics backend to D3D9 since the other options where sometimes laggy since 6.0 and a quite a lot more power hungry. I have tried about every options for the backend since 6.0 and I don't remember either of them to be free of this issue. The default one had it since it was the default one and I've had those random freezes since 6.0.vivaldi://experiments : nothing is checked.
GPU drivers are up-to-date I used 2 or 3 versions since 6.0 released as they rolled out.
My display doesn't support VRR so none of those Gsync features.
Also her is a link to the recordings https://drop.chapril.org/download/7a2d2a06f174e2d7/#PrqtdtFqiNbTqMDNVkiuAA
And the bug is recorded as VB-98063 (I have no idea if a log of it is publicly available online)
Following is the vivaldi://gpu dump that seems to be too long to be posted.

[14916:4600:0609/163759.372:ERROR:shared_image_manager.cc(217)] : SharedImageManager::ProduceSkia: Trying to Produce a Skia representation from a non-existent mailbox.
Is the new error log when I reproduce the bug. I'll try the other ANGLE options next.
Edit: OpenGL sees the same freezes without throwing an error log and D3D11 and D3D11on12 got the same error-logs as D3D9

@iyo13 Please open vivaldi://gpu, copy and save in text file, reply to bug report mail VB-98063, add text file as attachment, send back. All what you write in a reply will be added to internal tracker.
