Extensions cant install, chrome-web-store says "download error"
-
I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling and deleting cache + config folders between reboots. And I get the same error in the chrome web store (extensions store) everytime since 6.0.
Tried with default settings, different dns servers since, on and off VPN. Also tried with loggin in and letting vivaldi set everything up with my vivaldi account data, everything with that works... except extensions.
Also the Settings -> Privacy and Security -> Webstore
is active with all these settings mentioned above. Also tried allowing all cookies first+third party.
And i have also tried turning webstore off, closing vivaldi waiting 10-15 sec and starting and turning it back on again a restarting vivaldi again.
Nothing seems to get it to work.
Anyone have a solution?
Please help.

Oh I have also tried all the things mentioned above with and without the built-in adblocker.

@VerySophisticatedDuck Does it work in a extra profile? If yes some settings are broken or extensions in your default profile.
-
No, that doesnt work either
-
@VerySophisticatedDuck Try to restart your internet connection (DSL modem or router).
Does for Chromium 114 browser work?
-
Chromium 114 doesnt work, I get the same error "download interrupted"
I will try restarting my router and test both Vivaldi and chrome after reboot of router and pc

@VerySophisticatedDuck Then something with your Linux network or internet service provider is broken. Or your IP is blocked by Chrome Web Store.
-
Would I even be able to get into the "web store" if I was blocked?
Ive tried changing ip with a vpn but that doesnt work.
I will try and fiddle around with nextdns and see if that does something.

@VerySophisticatedDuck said in Extensions cant install, chrome-web-store says "download error":

Perhaps download is not done from same server as where webstore's website resides.

Right, makes sense

I tried resetting my router with "default" dns (cloudflare) didnt work.
I tried a different router (netgate/pfsense) didtn work. And tried with and without vpn (if i was banned) didnt work same deal as before.
Ive noticed that every time I have to give "admin/sudo" access by typing my password it doesnt launch vivaldi. Then when i launch the second time vivaldi opens and works but in the same way as before with no extensions.
Also vivaldi does this no launch thing with the first launch after every install where you choose a password for the "lock" for vivaldi.

I just figered out what was wrong...
I forgot I added a hefty blocking Host file and after removing that file all extensions installed correctly.
Sorry if I have wasted anybodys time.
Great browser, the best in my oppinien.

Over-aggressive Hosts files - the bane of sophisticated ducks everywhere!
