Black flickering while watching videos
-
Hello. It has been over a month that I've been experiencing issues with videos (YouTube, Twitter, etc.) when using Vivaldi. The bottom half of the screen keeps flickering black while the video is playing, and it's quite bothersome. Yes, I understand that this is a hardware acceleration issue, and please don't ask me to turn it off because that is NOT a solution. I need this option enabled, and it didn't use to happen before, so we need it fixed this regardless of whether acceleration is on or off. I'm using a Ryzen processor with integrated graphics (AMD Radeon Graphics). Thank you.

Hi, please add your Vivaldi and OS version.
I use a Ryzen 7 with iGPU, and don´t a have any issues on Youtube, I don´t use social media pages so I cant test Twitter.
Sometimes I open Instagram pages.
Open chrome://flags and search for rasterization
Some user have to enable or disable
--disable-gpu-rasterizationVivaldi 6.0.2979.22, Windows 11 Pro, specs in my signature.
Cheers, mib

I have no such issues on my 10 year old Linux (AMD / Radeon) computer or my five year old Windows (Intel Graphics).
Graphics acceleration is off on both… but if it is required for your use case then I hope there is a resolution.
Could it be a network issue? Just WiFi, Ethernet, both?
Are there any other Flags or experimental features you can enable / disable? -
@mib2berlin
Vivaldi: 6.0.2979.22 (Stable channel) (64-bit)
OS: Windows 11 Version 22H2 (Build 22621.1778)
AMD Driver: 23.5.1Tried disabling and enabling the flag. Nothing
Disabling hardware acceleration fixes it, but as I said, we shouldn't need to do that.@greybeard
Doesn't look like a network issue...
I'm not sure about the flags, i've tried "Override software rendering list" and the above mentioned "GPU rasterization", nothing has changed.
I have only "smooth scrolling" enabled, already tested it disabled. -

OK, I checked again. I have 23.20.00.11 driver, Windows 11 Pro.
All flags disabled, no extensions.
May you can check with a guest profile, it exclude all settings and extensions.https://help.vivaldi.com/article/guest-view/

Hm, one user report black/green stripes using an external codec package K-Lite. After removing the glitches was gone.
There are other packages like Advanced codec package and much more.
Do you use one of these?Cheers, mib

@mib2berlin I'm not using a codec package currently. Tried installing K-Lite instead, but the issue remains

Hi, I am sorry but I am out of ideas about this black flicker.
Some user report video issues but I cant remember this issue, something on your system cause this in combination with Vivaldi
but I don´t know what it is.
Vivaldi 6.1 is around the corner with Chromium update to 114, I hope the update fix this for you.Cheers, mib
