Does rebuild the mail search database have any visual hint on progress?

When using the option I get the popup dialogue warning that it could take minutes but after clicking the button, nothing.
No progress in status bar, no completed warning. As far as I know nothing happens. I do see some cpu usage increase of about 10% or so, but only for some seconds...

Same, here: how do we know if the rebuild is done?
The search message is broken, here: I tried to rebuild, but the rebuild isn't working, apparentely (it doesn't because the search is still broken), so:
- is the search broken by its own?
- is the rebuild broken, too, as the computer is apparently doing anything and the searched messages are still not found in the search?
Do we have two different things that don't work?

as far as I know there is no visual indicator while the database is indexed. I did this a while ago in version 5.8 and the indexing takes a while - for my ca 35k emails it was a couple of minutes if I recall correctly.
