Can someone explain to me exactly how mouse gestures work using the trackpad? I've got it enabled in settings and I did a restart.

@jaunny In Help it says:
Performing a gesture
- Click and hold the right mouse button (or press and hold the ALT key).
- Move the pointer to perform an action.
You can also perform gestures using other input devices, such as trackpads or touchpads. To enable gestures for these devices, tick the box for Perform Gestures with ALT Key in Settings.

@Pesala - ok, I've got all that, but am I wrong to think that mouse gestures can be preformed without an actual mouse, but by using the ALT key and the trackpad? Because that's what I'm doing and it dosent work.
I usually do all my navigating by mouse gestures but I just moved the other day and I have yet to be able to locate my mouse. -
Confirm Settings > Mouse > Perform Gestures with Alt Key is selected, as highlighted below; by default this option is not enabled:

When the aforementioned setting is enabled, hold down the ALT key, draw the gesture and release the ALT key. The command will be executed when you release the ALT key.
If your trackpad also has physical left and right mouse buttons, you can also hold down the right-mouse button there, but personally I find that uncomfortable to use.
