I have removed the search dialog on new tab page, now how do I get the search to automatically select the address bar when I create a new tab start page?

@sutaz said in how to get new tab start page to focus on address bar instead of a dialog search below?:

That is the default behaviour unless you have enabled, Settings, Tabs:
Focus Page Content on New Tab -
that is already enabled, is there no way to make it to select the address bar on the new tab start page?
-
@sutaz How do you create a new tab?
I see such focus issue only if i create new tab from task bar icon's context menu.
A known and confirmed bug. -
there's a "+" next to the tabs, I clicked "+" and it created a new tab, I wanted it to select the address bar automatically. Just like chrome, I got used to that, is that possible?
-
@sutaz As I said, that is the default behaviour. Hide the Search Field on the Start Page, and disable Focus Page Content on New Tab.
-
@sutaz Its is possible as i have it since months
Do you have special Settings in Tabs → New Tab Page or General → Startup with?
-
I tried all the options, but it's still the same behavior
-
@sutaz Settings Tabs → New Tab Page?
-
tried all options, it's working for you? I mean clicking "+" creating new tab, and the new tab will automatically select the address bar, you will be able to type without clicking the address bar, the default Google Chrome Browser, when creating new tab clicking "+" it will automatically select the address bar where you can just type without having to click the address bar, that's what I'm talking about.
Just wanted to check if it can be done? like really be done? if you understand what I wanted correctly.

@sutaz "Focus page content on new tab" should be unchecked

Hi, it´s really hard to find a setting in Vivaldi sometimes even for experienced user.
Use the search field in settings is often easier if you know the terminus. In this case a search for "focus" will show you all relevant settings and you can test this much easier than switching from one settings page to another.Cheers, mib
