Custom Search
-
I was lucky enough to get into the ios beta and have been generally pleased. However, one disappointment is that users are not allowed to set their own custom search provider. There are several to choose from, which is better than safari, but Vivaldi is about choice. I hope that the devs will consider allowing custom search engines in a future testflight release.

It's the same way on the Android version.

The TestFlight beta is amazingly polished for an first public preview, but I agree the lack of search customization is currently the only major pain point I have. I submitted a feedback to either add Kagi or allow custom search engines.

@dselhuk120981 It is there.

@harvisonjames You can change the search engine, but only if it's in the pre-defined list. You cannot create a custom search engine like you can in Vivaldi on the desktop or iOS Brave or Firefox.
As a secondary issue, I use Kagi and have it setup on Vivaldi on the desktop and Neeva on iOS. Randomly I find my desktop Vivaldi randomly re-set to Neeva. I assume this is syncing from iOS, I wish there was a way to prevent this while we wait for feature parity on iOS custom search engines.

I would also like this feature, it looks like there is an edit button that the bottom of the search settings but it is grayed out. Hopefully this will be addressed in future releases. Nice work everyone, I can’t wait to make this my default browser!

If you really want this to be implemented there's alteady a feature request (in the proper category os the forum) here:
https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/40148/customizable-search-engines?_=1685353277360Go to the post and click the "like" icon to push it.
I also think this should be implemented, so please do that!
The more people supporting it the better chances it gets implemented.
