New Bug: Forced italics on youtube without extensions
-
Everything has become italics on youtube! This issue is specific to youtube and regardless of ctrl+f5, reinstalling roboto font, reinstalling vivaldi, clearing cache cookies everything - nothing works and it's only happening on vivaldi and not on chrome, firefox, edge so issue is specific to vivaldi
-
I have this, too. Disabling Vivaldi's built-in blocking fixes it.
-
I don't have this at all.
Please try the troubleshooting steps, including testing in a clean profile and disabling adblocking/extensions:
https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/troubleshoot/troubleshooting-issues/And you never know with YouTube, sometimes they try new "experiments" only for some users/countries and they mess it up and it goes away after a while.

@Pathduck I just said that this issue is Vivaldi specific and does not happen on chrome, firefox and edge, and I'm updated on all of them. I also have done every step in troubleshooting it still is not working, the italics on youtube remain.
-
@spacedyemeerkat Yeah you're correct vivaldi's ad blocker is fucked rn. As soon as I disabled it, the italics is gone. ublock origin is a good alternative while vivaldi ad blocker is broken.

@Mustahsin Sometimes it helps with a quick web search too:
https://www.google.com/search?q=youtube+text+italic- https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/137u127/why_is_suddenly_the_text_on_youtube_in_italics_bug/

So it's not just Vivaldi...
Apparently the DDG Privacy Essentials extension could cause this.
And - since Vivaldi uses the DDG Tracker Blocker list, the issue could be a problem with the DDG list used.Try updating the DDG Tracker Radar list in Vivaldi by unchecking and checking it again.
Sometimes issues get into these lists. These blocker lists are not made or maintained by Vivaldi. Sometimes sites break from use of adblockers, just how it is, we have to deal with it and learn how to fix it ourselves until the list maintainers can correct the error.
I also have done every step in troubleshooting it still is not working
Well, clearly not

I had this problem, and reached the sites that Pathduck referenced, which revealed that turning DDG extension off then on again resolved the problem for many in other browsers.
From Pathduck's post, I turned the DDG blocking source off then on again in Vivaldi, and that resolved the problem for me.
Thank you everyone for sharing your problems and solutions, it's really a big help.
