It's great we now have an RSS Feed Panel, but it's only a gateway to opening up a new tab with the real "app". So I would love to see more functionality incorporated into the pop-up itself.

I've mentioned this before, but there used to be a great browser called Rockmelt which, despite being focused on Social, had a lot of great features regarding RSS.

      Namely,

      • The ability to easily add a feed by navigating to a website with a valid RSS link (the browser would recognize this and suggest it)
      • The ability to view the Feed items in a user-friendly, mobile-like version of the website directly on the pop-up, which would open the whole article in a new tab
      • Multi-column support that allows the user to switch between feeds quickly
      • Embedded video views
      • An "Add to Read Later" button on each article (Reading List, I'm looking at you).

I found a couple of videos that showcase these features:
      https://youtu.be/RhXVls0Q-yM?t=87

      https://youtu.be/zA0dzym_Qik?t=103

I think these features would significantly improve the RSS Feed experience on Vivaldi, and I hope you consider them.

this works already?! or what do you think this small icon does? 😉

this depends, how the server serves the feed. some websiteowner gives you a full article via feed item, some only a teaser. If the client could "download" the full article (if only a teaser is given), I don't think, that this would in the feedowners will

        Embedded video views

also already possible. get a feed from youtube or a invidious instance and you can watch the whole video within the feeditem

Thanks! I had not noticed that icon before.

Regarding the other two, I may have ordered the requests incorrectly. Yes, those are possible, but they should be under the "Multi-column support that allows the user to switch between feeds quickly". So those features within the panel itself.

Regarding item 2 specifically, check out the video examples. What I was looking for is just a UI preference, where it's simply a snippet with the accompanying image/thumbnail well positioned to resemble a mobile environment. I believe most feeds already provide those two, so it's just a matter of presentation.

All in all, I think the Feeds panel could increase productivity immensely if it had the option to work within the panel only rather than opening a new tab to do the heavy work. Something as simple as being able to check out the latest articles without having to navigate away from my main focus, the tab I'm on.

If you want a very powerful RSS feed reader go for the best and give a try to Feedbro:

@barbudo2005 thanks, but I already have a website to serve my RSS needs (Feedspot).

What I wanted was something that fit into my workflow, not take me away from it.

But Feedspot on a panel is pretty good, just not native.
