Persist and reopen a workspace
-
Is it anyhow possible to reopen a workspace I closed (say, yesterday)?
The only way I can imagine for now, is to save the window as a session (or as a bookmarks folder) before closing a window that hosts a workspace
But this requires me to be too conscious when I'm closing a window
-
@vladimirg There is always the Closed Tabs list.
There is also Settings, General:
Show Close Window Confirmation Dialogand Start up with
Last Session -
@vladimirg This question probably arises for everyone trying out workspaces. The simplest solution, which I also use, is this:
In Settings >General under
Startup with
checkLast session
. -
@Pesala
The closed tab list lists tabs and sometimes windows
This means I have to guess which window contained the workspace I needI do startup with last session already, but this only solves the question if I closed the whole Vivaldi altogether

@Dancer18
Oh I see, thanks
But this solves only the case when I closed the whole Vivaldi altogether.
My use case is something like:
Imagine I have a shopping workspace where I opened some stuff I'm planning to buy
But for 1-2 days I'm not dealing with shopping, so I would close that workspace and reopen the day afterOr, I have several workspaces for different task at my work.
Imagine I finish a task, close the workspace.
A few hours later a get a call that the task needs some refinement.
Then it would be great if I can reopen the workspace -
@vladimirg Then you probably need to use sessions. Go to vivaldi://experiments and enable the Session Panel. It makes it much easier to work with sessions — though use at your own risk as it is still an experimental feature under development.

@vladimirg Before I started with the workspaces, I always started Vivaldi with new session. In the meantime I found out that even if you want to save only 1 workspace, the
last session
setting is on ok.
Because even if the other workspaces have any tabs open from the last session, it's not really a problem.
Most of the time I delete them anyway before I close V. -
@Pesala
Yay, didn't know about the Sessions panel, will take a look, many thanks! -
@Dancer18 (off-topic)
Do I understand correctly that you have set-up your Home button to restart the browser?
How did you come upon vivaldi://restart URL?
Is there a list of all such "hidden" URLs? -
@vladimirg said in Persist and reopen a workspace:
How did you come upon vivaldi://restart URL?
Is there a list of all such "hidden" URLs?They are listed on
vivaldi://vivaldi-urls/
. Some might only work or will behave differently if you change thevivaldi://
tochrome://

@nomadic
Many thanks! -
@vladimirg Yes, you understood well.
There might be a list. I use
vivaldi:experiments,
vivaldi:extensions,
vivaldi:restart,
vivaldi:about,
chrome:settings (different to Vivaldi settings).
