Unable to delete a workspace with the workspaces menu

I have hidden the workspaces menu from the menu bar, because it takes up too much space. But without this menu I am not able to remove a workspace.
It should be possible to remove a workspace using a quick command, or manage the workspaces from the settings menu (or any other dedicated screen).
I also don't see how I can get the workspaces menu button back on the toolbar, in order to delete a workspace (as a workaround).

To display the menu again, go to Settings > Tabs > Tab Display and enable "Show Workspaces in Tab Bar".
Alternatively, you can put the menu on any of the toolbars using the Toolbar Editor. Read about it on our Help page here. Workspaces can be found in the Navigation Toolbar options.
