Youtube keeps lagging while in games
-
I have a r7 5800x, 32gb of ram, a 1080ti and 1Gb symetrical network. When I go into a game, Youtube starts dropping frames all of a sudden, but when I click back into vivaldi it's stops dropping frames. Does anyone have a solution? Also everytime I start a video, it goes to 480p even though i have connection and a sufficient pc to hold 4k

@W1mpl3 Hello and Welcome to the Vivaldi Community
I remember a similar issue not too long ago:
https://forum.vivaldi.net/post/658558User had a custom GPU profile for Vivaldi with some very strange setting - "Background application Max Framerate" - set to 30 for some weird reason.
Generally I'd recommend just removing Vivaldi completely from any custom GPU profile. It should not be there at all.
Also of course it would depend on the game - an extremely CPU-intensive game would still lag the browser to the point of it having to downgrade your video performance, no matter how powerful your CPU.
Another relevant question of course is if this also happens with other browsers or just with Vivaldi?
Personally I've never seen the point of watching videos while playing a game. Either I play a game, or I watch a video. But each to their own I guess

I've checked and it doesn't happen with other browsers even at 4k, only with vivaldi. I've tried what was said in the other post, but it keeps lagging. Any other ideas? Btw I use it mostly when im grinding in gta V or for music to keep my brain busy while im dead in val.

Also, I've just reminded that sometimes when going forward in a video, it has lag advancing through the video, so it may be related. It doesn't happen always, it's intermittent
