Lost all tabs in Workspaces
-
The problem still persist, any update from Dev Team?
Do you guys even have this in your backlog ???Mine is MAC Os 13.6.1
Vivaldi 6.4.3160.34 -
Have you checked the Bin icon?
Have you checked the Snapshot folder in Profile Folder? -
I can see some files in 6.4.3160.34/Default/Sessions
What do I have to do ?
When I try to restore sessions in File/Open Saved sessions, no sessions appears
-
Close V
Find out your Profile/Default/Sessions folder
Rename itPaste the Sessions folder from Snapshot
-
In case you have custom Sessions
Backup the original folderPaste the content of the Sessions folder from Snapshot and replace if needed
-
This worked amazingly well, I recover all my tabs!
Some names were missing but thats no problem!Thank you!!!!

I just had a similar problem and panicked (100+ tabs lost!). But then I found a solution within Vivaldi itself. Not sure if it existed back when this question was posted, or if it's some new feature.
Under the Trash icon on the tabs panel you will see the log of all closed tabs. You can find "Window with 100500 tabs" there and see all of its tabs. This way you can restore them one by one. But there's a better way - use "Restore all" button at the bottom. Just click it and the window with all tabs grouped by workspaces will magically appear.
-
makes Workspaces unusable if your tabs within them randomly dissapear
-
Hi,
AFAIK I've never lost any.By the way,
I regularly BackUp the Profile, as far as I can, allways before big updates. You can recover easily that way.

I found this hint somewhere but I can't remember where: click on the bin, find the window with all your tabs, scroll down on the tabs list until you find the menu item to "restore all". I got all my 416 tabs and my 15 workspaces back.
See sample below:

@AGrinko saved my situation, thanks!
-
seems this issue persists in vivaldi. luckily only has happened to me twice and was able to find same solution here.
-
@ultrapro5000 Same here. Just upgraded to 6.7.3329.41 (Stable channel) (arm64). I didn't expect that them to boom! all gone. @AGrinko a life saver!

Similar problem here - two different macs (one a recent air, other an old imac) both lost all their tabs following a Vivaldi update. On one I had sessions autosaved and got them back. Similar problem about a year ago, then for a long time it was OK, so I got lulled back into thinking it was safe to invest time organising many hundreds of tabs into workspaces. This is not good enough, what's the point of promoting workspaces as a feature, then nuking their contents with updates?
-
Had a similar problem. Using Vivaldi on Linux, opening Vivaldi after a crash showed no open tabs on any of my workspaces (altogether they were probably ~50 open tabs).
Usually when I mess up and close a window by mistake I can recover them in the Window pane, but there's nothing there. I don't know how to recover my tabs this time.

Just happened to me again. Had this happen multiple times over years now. For the first time I cannot retrieve them by the bin icon however.
Sometimes just closing and reopening the browser brings them back. Other times I use the trash icon, but for me this duplicates all my tabs and puts them all in one single workspace. And sometimes they're all just gone permamnently.
Personally this makes Vivaldi unusable, why is it so difficult to fix? It it's been decided that it's impossible, couldn't have we an automatic backup saved elsewhere? It's easier to switch browser than save my tabs every single time I use the PC.
-
Latest version (disregard signature version) - I've lost all my tabs as well - 100+ of them organised into about 8x projects. Not happy. Wtf is going on? :((
It's bad enough that Vivaldi cashes often while my machine is sleeping, or rather that Vivaldi is no longer running when it wakes, but tabs are usually restored.
I got a few out of date stacks back from the cloud menu, so lost about 80% instead of 100% but why is that?! EDIT: They are so out of date, that I am going to delete them all and start from scratch. Just what I wanted to do on a Sunday.
It's this kind of unreliability that made me switch browsers a year or two back - I was posting here at the time.
I like the browser, I like the features and I like the way it works but it's not working properly, seems slow at loading images at times (can't prove that yet) and now I can't trust my tab session to stay intact - even though it's meant to be synced?!
Come on people...

Hi,
As a workaround
- You can check at your Time Machine
- Enable the Sessions Backup from V Panel
- Check and enable this

I don't have any of this available - All the session files are timestamped today so they are now overwritten.
There doesn't appear to be any other session backups. I am absolutely furious.
