RSS Feed Reader Feature Request/Improvements
-
As per a conversation on Mastodon, I'm opening a feature request. I currently use Feedly as my default RSS reader. I was asked what it would take to get the builtin RSS reader to a similar level as Feedly and here's some of my feedback.
with the Feedly extension, articles are grouped by site and I can queue up the articles I want to read by middle clicking and then they all open in tabs. With vivalidi's RSS I get an "email-inbox" experience and I have to click into each one to open them up in a tab.
Feedly:
Vivaldi:
I think the Vivialdi reader would be better if I could do something similar directly from the side panel instead of going to the "email inbox":
One reason I prefer to open the articles directly into browser tabs is that browser extensions work correctly in the tab vs the "email inbox" view.

@paulhey When you're in the feed items list, you can double click on articles and they will open in a tab, does that help?
Alternately, you could vote for this topic, and maybe it will eventually get implemented: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/53880/allow-middle-click-on-article-list-to-open-original-page-in-new-tab

Thanks for opening this back up @LonM !
For others looking at this (and to answer the question): no, double clicking the article just opens it in another "mail" tab which is not the same as opening the article on the website. I think what makes this request different is that I'm requesting that the functionality of the "feeds" panel be designed and dedicated around RSS feed activities instead of behaving like another "mail" panel.
