Google detects "Unusual Traffic" from my network...
-
Windows 11 / Dell XPS desktop / Vivaldi browser: I recently came back to Vivaldi after trying another browser which annoyed me with too many pop-up ads. Now I'm back I'm still getting interruptions to browsing with Google telling me they have 'unusual traffic' from my network. This pop-up appears maybe 20 times a day! I connect via NordVPN so the IP address varies but this window keeps on appearing. Any suggestions for avoiding it?

@gazumped Hello and Welcome to the Vivaldi Community
I'm afraid the only logical answer is to turn off your VPN when accessing Google's services.
Make sure also to accept 1st and 3rd-party cookies from Google and don't delete Google cookies when using Google's services.
This is the price to pay for using Google.
Not really a Vivaldi issue. Also see:
"Some VPNs send traffic that violates the law or websites' terms of service. If you're an Internet Service Provider (ISP), explain to your users why they should uninstall these VPNs. When the abuse to Google's network stops, we automatically stop blocking the IP(s)/ISP(s) that were sending the bad traffic."

@pathduck Thanks for the instant reply - I do leave VPN off sometimes - some websites dislike it too; and I'll often forget to put it back on afterward. Not sure that's the answer, but it does look plausible - I'll give it a shot. If 'no VPN' is not the answer, you'll be the second to know. Thanks again -

@gazumped Worth removing google/recaptcha cookies too because they might contain the info "unsual traffic" somewhere. Also, sometimes even extensions may trigger the recaptcha validation but usually is nothing to worry about.
Especially considering that google send a mail for every different location/network in which you access.
The same may happen if you prevent the need 1st/3rd party cookies or are cleaned up on a regular basis.
