Solved Microphone not working for Google services in Vivaldi
-
@JarvisSoft Not with Vivaldi as i know.
And i guess, the Windows builtin Speech Recognition as a workaround (can not test) wont work.
-
Of all the Vivaldi upgrades, yet still no microphone input for google search, yahoo search, or any other search engine. Yet the moderators who monitor this forum need to seriously adjust your attitude. Never say never, or Google is charging too much for use of their blah blah blah! Come on vivaldi! Get your act together.

@bk2020 please stop spamming the forum digging out every thread that contains the word microphone and making the same claim over and over again.
@Pesala said in The browser won't see a microphone:
@bk2020 The reason why Vivaldi cannot do this has nothing to do with hiring the right developers. This was explained to you in a previous topic.

@bk2020 Works OK on both Bing and Duck Duck Go. Just google search that does not work.

@rltidd57 It doesn't work on edge either. So this confirm they use their proprietary api which will work on chrome only. (sometimes google share some restricted api with edge. Doesn't seems this the case).
-
@Hadden89 I can use the windows 10 or windows 11 voice typing in Vivaldi and other browsers with no issues.
-
@rltidd57 But that is a accessibility feature of Windows, has nothing to do with Vivaldi's microphone in address field.
-
@DoctorG I had no idea! What a joke! Good thing I rarely if ever use a microphone...
-
@DoctorG Might not be the same thing, but works like the same thing. Speak into microphone and words appear in whatever text field you are in. Great work around.
Have a GREAT day! -
Solved seems like a strong word for this problem. More like "never going to be solved" unfortunately. A long time ago this could be worked around with user agent switcher plugins, but now the user agents selectable in those plugins are all extremely outdated and not supported by google docs anymore. Curious if anyone has found a user agent switcher that mimics more modern browsers. Microsoft edge works better with Google Docs than Vivaldi, a Chromium browser, which is nuts to me.
