not working with purevpn

For approx 2 years vivaldi worked well with a vpn, purevpn, until a few weeks ago. Now I log into purevpn from a chrome extension installed into vivaldi and as soon as I try to change a webpage while on vpn another login dialogue for a proxy shows up. I have no login to satisfy that requirement and I am dead. Requested login is to https://px031602.pointtoserver 10795 which I have no idea what it is about.

my purevpn still works fine with firefox as it used to on vivaldi.
Is there some proxy adjustment in vivaldi that could get rid of this? Now when I want to use a vpn I have to use firefox.
I have reported this to purevpn with no suggestions received. I have not tried with another vpn.

Hi, Firefox is completely different to Vivaldi or other Chromium browser. If it work with Chromium but not Vivaldi then it is a Vivaldi issue.
I use ExpressVPN but I start the application system wide, no extension needed.
It is not as comfortable as an extension but all browsers and application use this connection.
For example start a connection in a terminal to Austria:

expressvpn connect at

Disconnect:

expressvpn disconnect

Ready.
