Solved What is "browser windows in portal" in experiments?
-
I stumbled over a setting in
vivaldi:experiments
:enable browser windows in portal
What is that feature for? I have not the slightest idea, beside that enabling had make my mail panel disappear.
-
This experiment introduces an alternative method of rendering browser windows, which opens up new possibilities and improves performance. As the label says, it's "highly experimental". You need to proceed with caution. Some basic browser features might not work as expected with this experiment enabled.
Experimental features might not be finished/polished enough for general use - some bugs or issues may occur. It would be wise to back up your profile before enabling them or use a separate Vivaldi installation for testing. -
@Dancer18 Do not blindly enable experiments you donβt know anything about. This experiment can break your profile and maybe it already has. I hope you have a backup.
-
@Dancer18 Which version of Vivaldi Snapshot or Stable is this?
-
@luetage I just learned that. It was the first time that enabling it in the experimental settings caused an immediate effect.
However, the profile seems to be largely fine after I disabled that again.
-
@DoctorG Newest stable from today - 5.7.2921.53 and 5.7.2921.49 of snapshot.
-
@Dancer18 At first start on Mint 21 with Vivaldi 5.7 Stable and Snapshot i could not find such settings in Vivaldi Experiments, but after restart it was visible. That was the reason why i asked you.
-
@Dancer18
yeah, portals! -
@derDay Ah, you approach my actual question. That gives hope!
