Side number key pad interference
-
Hello Goof Vivalidi people! I'm really hoping someone can help me, because it's driving me nuts. When I have to enter numbers on a website, and go to use my number pad on the side, it either will magnify the page, or take me to another tab. Yes, I'm certain the cursor is in the area in which the #'s are to be typed. That said, it doesn't happen on my 2 other browsers. I rarely use them, but sometimes a site won't work with Vivaldi properly. I'm certain it is a setting but I have no clue as to which one. I really don't want to reset anything, so PLEASE if you know what setting to look for that would be fantastic!

Hi, please read:

https://www.top-password.com/blog/3-methods-to-disable-numlock-on-a-laptop-keyboard/In most cases, you want NumLock ON.

I never ever ever turn off my number lock. I use them too frequently. I have a micorsoft ergonomic keyboard which gives me # keys to my right. If it were an issue of turning them off, then all browsers would act the same. Being that it only happens in Vivaldi, not Opera, not Edge, it has to be a Vivaldi setting somewhere in keyboard. I have used Vivaldi since 2017 when no one else really heard of it. I have never had this issue before. I have also used the same keyboard for at least 10 years. In short, it's not the numbers lock key!!

Well, have you checked your keyboard settings?
There are no default keys using the numpad keys unless combined with Ctrl.
Any specific site this happens?

I'm not saying using with control. Independently. Say it say you are filling out a form, you go to enter your info that requires numerical input. Using the keys on the right side of my ergonomic keyboard, ( Logitech) will cause the issue of switching tabs or magnifying the page randomly. This does not happen on any other browser, and again, I've used Vivalidi since 2017 and I have never had this issue. I'm not using control, or any other input. It does not happen when using the numbers on the F keys.

@kathyblanchard, does issue occur under a new profile?
-
@kathyblanchard Try in a guest window. If it works there, check your extensions and/or remove the keyboard shortcuts for
switch to tabs
just in case you have theCtrl
key on keyboard jammed which could cause the behaviour. -
@yojimbo274064400 yes and also in private window as well. It started with the last update in December. Largely thinking I should un install re install. Thought I'd check here first. It doesn't happen if I'm typing here or an email, or in the addy bar. It only happens when I'm filling out forms.

I barely remember it makes me crazy deep in past. Isn't it caused by feature "Single Key Shortcuts"?

Before reinstalling consider creating a new Windows user account and seeing if the problem occurs there also.

@enc0re That would apply to the entire keyboard, not just the keypad.

Thank you to everyone for their solutions. Some not related to my issue, others already tried. I went and reset in the keyboard settings. I'd rather go back and make adjustments vs uninstall and re install. My husband is FINALLY using Vivaldi, and he has no sound. Again, it's only on Vivaldi. That started on Sunday. So I think "pockets" of Vivaldi have an issue. If you are like us, we do use more than 1 browser. While some may be experiencing an issue, others my not even notice and by the time they use it, the issue has been cleared up. So again, thank all of you have a great day
