In keeping with the beautiful 'Vivaldi Day', my good old ASUS V1Sseries laptop is having problems
-
I loaded the first Vivaldi version on it.
Now the screen does not turn on when booting up.
You can clearly hear it start up but the screen does not light up.
The device goes into standby mode after some time of inactivity.
Also goes into standby mode when closed.
Think it is a hardware problem.
I am attached to the device and would like to fix it, also upgraded the RAM with racks, now wanted to replace the hard drive with an SSD.
It is a stable, robust device, almost a ThinkPat.
Also restarts with r-e-i-s-u-b, as it should.
Maybe the screen is not defective, but only the power supply via the hinges.
Does anyone know how this works?
All tips are welcome. -
@ingolftopf
Hi, can you boot in to the BIOS screen?
I would try to remove the battery and connect the power supply only. Check if it has a second battery.
On some ThinkPads you can change the battery when the laptop is running.
If it not start the power supply or the connection is broken.
Can you add a second display to the laptop?
Iirc the Think Pads are easy to open to check the mainboard > display connection.Cheers, mib

@mib2berlin
Thanks for your great answer.
Had already feared, you would say, throw away, not worth it.Hang really on the device, good memories and runs really well with 'Q4OS' and Vivaldi.
Is of course nothing for resource hungry programs.
Answer immediately. -
@mib2berlin
It's only almost a TinkPad, it's an ASUS V1S a business device and always been treated well, no games, never overheated.
I can't see the BIOS screen as it stays dark.
A second monitor can be connected.
Without battery, the ASUS starts but the screen remains dark.
The power supply is almost new.
But the battery is defective, without power the device immediately goes off and with power the battery, for some time, no longer charged.
But is that why the screen does not turn on?
The motherboard is easy to reach.Do you know of any relevant sites on the web or forums to research further?

@ingolftopf
Hi, search for "ASUS V1S display repair".
Check these cable connectors:

If you start from the beginning he shows how you open it.Cheers, mib

Don't know about your Model.

@mib2berlin
Thank you very much -
@Zalex108
Thanks a lot -
Tss... I can't do anything here because of "Vivaldi Day".
Still have to tinker.
But it's not every day. -
You can also try something that would not help in this case, but to check whatever idea.
Disconnect everything (HW) from the Laptop
Even battery despite weak
And ACPress Start up button for 30"
Doing a static / capacitors dischargeConnect and fire up

Thank you, now that I read it, this also comes back to me.
Made, but no change. -
And about the flaslight?
-
@Zalex108
It flashes at startup, then nut still every now and then.
Waits for password input.A tip I also received,
"times with a strong light source looked whether the display perhaps still shows something, but no longer shines? Then the backlight would be broken, not unusual.
The panel can certainly still be replaced on this model."
But there is nothing to see in the screen. -
Many years ago dealt with the Converter, but the new screens I'm not informed about whether they changed that ot use some kind of.
Just made a short research and found nothing,j ust cables.
If you can,
You may try open the body and disconnect/connect the VGA since the Flash you said, but in case nothing in an external screen...https://duckduckgo.com/?q=ASUS+V1S+Black+screen&t=vivaldi&ia=web
Tried the external and FN+ExtraScreen button?
