Broken link (survey.walmart.com not loading)
-
I often take the Walmart surveys after purchase. No problems till now in Vivaldi.
When I click the link to start the survey, I get the "snake chasing tail" loading GIF, which stops in the middle as shown. Survey never loads.
Here is the link, tho I doubt anyone can run to verify:

No ad blockers running. Runs fine in Opera.

@cniggeler Works fine here. Filled out some bogus info, went through.
Disabling the ad/tracker blocker is one of the standard troubleshooting steps:

Please bookmark that link for the next time you encounter some issueYou know those things are just tools to harvest email and phone numbers for spamming you with ads right?

Thank you. By looking at the link you sent, I turned off blocking using the shield icon to the left of the address in the URL textbox I was also able to get the page to load.

I already use uBlock Origin and have been quite satisfied. Is the Vivaldi blocking new or had a recent overhaul?
-
While I do appreciate the browser taking steps on my be1/2, it would be great to get a visual cue when the browser has stopped the page from loading - perhaps change the shield icon to red or something. Merely turning it to a lightning bolt is insufficient; for instance, merely visiting www.ibm.com turns that icon into the bolt. How would I make this suggestion - can this ticket be flagged to the developers' as a suggestion? Thanks!

@cniggeler Glad you could make it work. Maybe you'll win even something?

The built-in ad & tracker blocker in Vivaldi has been around for a long time. It's not enabled by default so that's something you've done. It's important to note that it uses publicly available blocklists, and these get updated regularly (just like uBlock). Sometimes updates to lists fix stuff, sometimes it breaks stuff.
-
You can click the block icon to get a status of the number of trackers/ads have been blocked. Just like you would click the uBlock icon to see what's being blocked. It's impossible for the browser (or a blocker extension) to know if blocking will stop a page from loading correctly. This is why the override option exists.
Read more about the Vivaldi Ad & Tracker blocker here:
https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/privacy/tracking-and-ad-blocking/
https://vivaldi.com/features/ad-blocker/If you're already using uBlock, I recommend you choose the one you're most comfortable with. There's little point in running both, as many of the lists used are the same. uBlock is more for advanced users who want more control, set their own rules and knows how to figure out when a block rule stops a site working. uBlock also has some extra tricks up its sleeves to avoid site breakage in some cases.
Vivaldi's blocker is for non-technical users who want to block the most common pests on most web sites. But like all blockers, sometimes sites break.
You can in most cases of site breakage press F12 to access the developer tools, then look at the Network tab, reload the page and you will see blocked requests coloured red. You can then use that information to figure out what domains are blocked, and then maybe try disabling your blocklists one by one until you find the one causing the site breakage.
Then open the list source file (right-click, copy list origin), find the specific rule that causes the breakage, then make a report to the list maintainers (usually these are on Github) if you feel the block is unwarranted.
In this case, requests to
medallia.com
are blocked by the DDG Tracker Radar. This is a tracking and analytics company. Big US sites like Walmart are chock full of these trackers collecting and selling your data. -
