Hi again, it sounds may a bit obscure but do you use any third party security tool, or VPN, cookie extension?
For example Norton can crash Vivaldi tabs randomly and Avast block adding new mail accounts in Vivaldi.
It takes me hours to find out Avast was the reason and not Vivaldi on a friends PC.
I poke in the fog but I am out of other ideas.

Complete new installation (as standalone), import of my passwords, same settings as with the normal installation, no addons. Took some hours, but the issue happened again. I have only the windows defender running

I have used Nord VPN and Surfshark. I use Windows Defender and Malwarebytes windows firewall control, which adds some functionality to Windows' default firewall. Other than that, I don't use any other additional tools on a regular basis. I keep my system tidy with things like Privazer, and I have disabled some Windows' features like telemetry, so it is possible something got disabled in an automated process. For addons, I use Ublock Origin and Microsoft editor. I uninstalled these and removed Vivaldi with Revo uninstaller to scan and remove any leftover files. Upon a fresh install and creating a new profile, the problematic behavior persists.

Hi, this make it even harder to catch this thing, you use some non Microsoft tools and extensions on a clean profile and @scorpie and me only Defender and no extensions. I in a used profile for more than 3 hours, then set system to sleep, work further, restart and s forth. I guess it was 5 hours at least.
I am sorry but before we can it reproduce I cant think of a fix of such an issue, I fear.

Can you please post your system specs and if you test with Hardware acceleration on or off?

Thanks, in the linked thread Vivaldi does not update the bookmark panel and/or vivaldi://bookmarks/ page.
Can you check if the bookmark panel does not update, too?
I don´t test this, I test only the bookmark bar.
It drives me crazy that I cant reproduce it on two different systems.
Can you remember if this start for you with Vivaldi 5.5?

Jup its the same problem with the bookmark panel and I can't delete bookmarks from the recyle bin or empty it if it happens, too

The bookmark system is completely broken at the moment.

I'm experiencing this for 8 to 10 weeks now. It looks like change events aren't forwarded/reacted to and other stuff.

I edit a URL of a bookmark, the change is reflected in the "Details"-window of the bookmark manager, but not in the list. Closing the browser and opening it again and I see the old URL again.
Adding a new bookmark, it doesn't show up in the bookmarks list on the left. Closing the panel and opening it again and there it is as empty bookmark. Now I can edit it, with the results from above.
A whole subfolder of my bookmarks just vanished into thin air. It's there in the backup I made on December 27th, but not in the current bookmarks anymore. Neither did I delete it, nor did I "accidentally" move it around. Searching for those bookmarks doesn't yield any results either. When I import the bookmarks.html file then everything is imported except for that folder with those bookmarks.
Had to add the missing bookmarks by hand, opened the bookmarks.html file, right click on every bookmark and said "Add to bookmarks". Moving them into the right subfolder was a challenge on its own.

Right now I have lost all trust in the bookmarks feature of the browser and quadrouble check every time I added a new bookmark if it's really there and then immediately create a backup of the bookmarks.

The longer this browser exists, the more it goes down the drain.

Really sad.

EDIT: Oh yes, I forgot to mention:

When you add a bookmark via the bookmark sign in the URL field, then it's just added. The browser doesn't offer you to set a title anymore. When you then check the left pane, there's nothing there. Closing the pane, opening it again and there it is.
I can also click on the bookmark and then edit the title there, but when I do this it's a 50/50 game if the bookmark will reflect the changes or not.
Sometimes bookmarks are added twice or even three times after adding them once.

Hi, it is broken for some user, if all Vivaldi user cant add or manage bookmarks the forum would be flooded with threads.
I try to reproduce it on two systems since two days but I cant.
Now we need a procedure to reproduce it to make a good bug report.
If you report your issue now and no testers or developer cant reproduce it the report will be closed very quickly.

I got also confusing experience with bookmarks management. I need to quit bookmark page to see refresh as : bookmark creation, suppress, name change....

OK, even this is a different issue as drag and drop it is good to get all bookmark issues in one thread.
Can you please check if you have the same issues with D&D in a bookmark bar?
If yes try it in a clean profile, create it close all tabs and test a bit.

I cant confirm it internally but I hope other testers/developers can.

I've got a 'perso profile', quite old. No drag n drop issue. The issue I mentioned previously is also not there . Looks like it belongs to the profile.....

I did another screen record. From 00:00 to 1:40 show she same issue as before, on 'Pro' profile. From 1:40 show drag n drop issue, on 'pro' profile as well, then the test on 'perso' profile, several years old.

@scorpie , @Grimeton , @mib2berlin , I just did a try by deactivating and reactivating extensions on my 'pro' profile that was giving me headeaches --> issue is gone. I will report the issue anyway, but maybe it worth to try this ^^

Another thing to add

I have two installations of vivaldi. The first one as normal under user, the second one standalone under program files. The issue on both is the same (after a while it is noth possible to add bookmarks), with one difference. I installed all the addons from the first one also in my second installation. If I activate forecastfox (fixed version) there and restart the browser I can't add a bookmark or delete the recycle bin. After deactivation of fcf and a restart it is possible to add bookmarks or empty the recycle bin again. I can repeat this again and again.

No problems with fcf and the normal version.

As I wrote I had the old problem with the standalone version (without addons), too. Just had the same settings, passwords and bookmarks, too

@scorpie I have had two windows open for around 12 hours with a full day's use and have been able to drag bookmarks to my bar without issues. This is surprising, as it has been a persistent issue. Unless there was an update, the only thing different is instead of dragging a tab to open a the 2nd window, I right clicked on the active tab on my taskbar and clicked "New Window". I have also not dragged any tabs from one window to the other. Will have to do more testing tomorrow.

Edit: I am also having the issue where I can't click the bookmark icon in the right side of the address bar and choose a location like I use to. It just adds the bookmark now.

EDIT: Speed dials are not update either, the bookmark folder is also a speed dial folder.

There is VB-93981 already but it was closed as "Can not reproduce" for known reasons.
I try to get it reopened.

Any specific steps you followed to reproduce the issue? Are you able to reproduce it consistently with those?

Reproducing it alone, without a way to reproduce it consistently isn't going to be very helpful
