Chrome's team just released a bumped stable version with 1 fix. if thats another 0-day vulnerability, Vivaldi team already payied off moving to stable 108 branch and we will see the first minor update in the next hours.
*** edit ***
In fact, as I see now, Vivaldi team just come back from the future. 5.6 was released with Chromium 108.0.5359.105, and the update from Chrome's team was .98/.99.

@csablak Didn't you enable "Use system window" in the Appearance settings?
-
The folder tree in the address bar does not open while saving the page.
-
@ayhangur Do you mean the bookmark button? There I also stumbled over it and wanted to write a post first.
In the settings for bookmarks you must now make a check mark at "Always open bookmark dialog".
-
@pajosan: Yes Vivaldi please fix this! One of the primary reasons I use Vivaldi is for this feature of clicking on the arrow on the right side of the address bar to open a list with often/last visited pages and last typed inputs in the address bar.
-
@Dancer18 I hadn't seen that setting. Thank you.
-
Just noticed that in version 5.6 the context menu is bright even though I'm using a dark theme.
Previously the context menu was also dark.
Is there a setting for this? -
-
The colored icons are nice; I would love to see the panel icons get some color, too. The notes, calendar, and RSS feed all look like squares with things in them if I am not right in from of my screen, so colorizing them would help differentiate them easier.
-
@Zalex108 No, in that case it doesn't change the right click menu.
The appropriate setting will be in a similar place perhaps? I have no idea here. -
Not in desktop to check -
@vadobe: Same, I'm surprised there aren't more complaints about this.
-
@Zalex108 I wonder that it has changed here in the new version 5.6.
Previously, the context menu was dark. -
Can someone say maximally offensive things on the Vivaldi mastodon instance? Or will it result in a ban? In other words, does Vivaldi support the freedom to offend?
Update: I see from the "Code of Conduct" that Vivaldi does not support the freedom to offend.
Don’t insult or use unfriendly language, including ALL CAPS.
Don’t use content likely to offend people...
Got it, so only "nice" things are allowed on the Vivaldi instance.... Seems rather pointless, and not in the spirit of a free and open internet. I'll stick to Twitter.

One of my very few concerns about Vivaldi is the lack of a consistent UI, which stands out. It's not a deal breaker, but since you don't expand the theme capabilities, we can't create true native-ish themes so the browser can't integrate visually into the OS's we use. It would require much more options than just setting a few colors and corner radius. There has been a lack of consistency with the UI for a while. They seem to approach it in pieces, as evident with the different icon types across the different areas and they never get around to making it uniform. These new icons in just the settings panel continue that trend, colours/no colours, outlined/filled, thick lines/thin lines, etc..

Looks like my problem with YouTube buffering / stoping is fixed too and Decode hevc is back!
I'm happy!

Previously, the context menu was dark. There's a relates report in Linux, there you have to change to GTK.
Are you in Linux or Win?
-
@Zalex108 Linux Mint 20.3 Cinnamon with dark theme Cinnamox-Kashmir-Blue. It is already GTK, and in Linux the rightclick menu is dark.

Check and ask here:

@Zalex108 Yes, @mib2berlin wrote there:
Hi, this is a Chromium 108 bug, open:

search for GTK and change it from anything to GTK should solve it for the Vivaldi menu and context menu. That solved the issue.
