Mail, Search and Toolbars – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2867.4
-
In the beginning I was skeptical about the usefulness of the e-mail plugin, let alone the "mind of its own" that it used to demonstrate. Now I have completely changed my mind. Most of the "aberrations" have been eliminated and its use is a peach. One of the easiest e-mail client in setting up accounts and certainly the most comprehensive and the absolute best in filtering & tagging. If the devs find a way to export the settings separately and the mails in a popular form (for example in pdf), I suspect that Vivaldi can be used - even by sceptics - exclusively as an e-mail client. My brother refuses stubbornly to switch from Firefox but I made a "Trojan effort" to convince him through the mail client with good results.

I hope you did not tell him to use a Snapshot as it may have issues in Vivaldi Mail client, his risk if he lose mails. Better way is to install a Stable.

Does VB-93174 fixes the issue where the cursor position goes back to zero after every search query refresh even if the desired result is already visible, or is that a different position in the bug tracker, or is it not even on it in the first place? It's really annoying, just now I wanted to look up a single bookmark in the address bar, and Vivaldi did find it instantly, but it was constantly attempting to search for even more results, and every time it did it moved my cursor back to the address bar, meaning every time I pressed the down arrow to select my desired result which was visible it would constantly bounce back and back even though it was the only result and I was forced to use my mouse to click it. This really messes with my workflow but I don't know if I should report it or if the Vivaldi dev team is already aware of it.

I've been experiencing tab crashes and inexplicable blank pages when opening YouTube videos with this Snapshot. This is the first time I've experienced this during years of using Snapshots.
Crossing my fingers this is a consequence of a "bleeding edge" Chromium version, is only temporary and not an indication my aging but extremely reliable GTX970 is now no longer "supported" in Chromium 108...
Hard to repro reliably but will try with a clean profile and see if there's some pattern to this.

is it already known, that if you close a second window with automatic reloaded tabs, the tabs don't have their autoreload state if the window is reopened from trashbin?
probably worked with the third last snappieWin10 21H2

@Pathduck youtube crashes and uses huge amount of cpu since beginning of November, even on stable. It's because of service worker in background. It does the damage even when not playing video (paused or never played, like just opened youtube) and it's still alive in background if you close YouTube tabs, until it dies like the tab die if you left it open
Using uMatrix extension I was able to block web workers (I unregistered it too on youtube page via DevTools), this way youtube no longer works in background and it still consumes a lot of resources while playing videos, but stops as soon as i close the tab.
Cons:
- probably notifications won't work, but I don't care about them on desktop
-
address bar is still misbehaving for me, but more random this time.
sometimes copy and paste stops working, vivaldi sometimes still ignores highlighted item and opens something different from suggestions
