I get this error if I try to type "www" into the URL bar:

Please consider reporting the issue at https://vivaldi.com/bugreport/ to help us fix it.I am on Kubuntu 20.04.5 LTS
and my Vivaldi version is: 5.6.2865.3 (Official Build) snapshot (64-bit)This doesn't happen on another computer running Kubuntu 22.04 with the latest stable Vivaldi.
Restarting Vivaldi doesn't help. Rebooting the computer doesn't help. -
@Sataylor56 Does that happen in Guest Window too? Perhaps a extension causes the issue.
On my sytsem if so not get such error when i type
www.example.org
-
Right, it did not do it in a guest window. I then cleared my cache for today and that fixed it. There must have been something in my cache that was causing it.

This problem is back. I cleared my cache for a week back and it is still happening. When I type "www" or "http", it crashes with the same error. It does not happen when using a guest window. It must be something with extensions.

@Sataylor56
Hi, extensions can crash a tab but never heard about a crash of Vivaldi. I cant reproduce it in a clean profile in 5.5 and a active profile in 5.6 snapshot but I use only 3 extensions.
It is not really clean but you can close all tabs, disable all extensions and restart Vivaldi.
You can also start Vivaldi with the switch:--disable-extensions
to do this in one rush.
I always have a clean profile for testing, you can create one and sync it but only for bookmarks and passwords, for example, then disable sync.
This were a clean profile but you can work and test.Cheers, mib

I totally cleared all my history and turned off the only two extensions that I have and it still gives me the same error. I don't get it in a guest window.
-
This only happens when I start to enter "www" or "http".
If I type a URL without those, it works fine. -
I just updated to 5.7.2876.11 and the problem is gone.
