Linux Online-Help Group with 'Jitsi Meet'
-
There is the idea of setting up a 'Linux Online Help' group via Jabber/XMPP and 'Jitsi Meet' (open source videoconferencing).
Is there any interest in this?
Would there be questions and helpers here? -
I think this would also work for Windows if advanced users could be found.

There seems to be more demand for it.
Some tables in our 'Literature Café 7' on 'Jabber/XMPP':

are now reserved for this, spontaneous or planned. -
I'm a member of two local Linux user groups. Since the Covid-19 pandemic started, both groups have conducted their monthly meetings online using Jitsi.
Although I have yet to use Jitsi with Vivaldi, I have used Jitsi using both Firefox and Chromium and have had mixed results with both browsers, including using them with other Linux distributions. Usually, one of three things occurs:
- no audio
- no microphone
- Jitsi meeting web page displays no images
I'm always tinkering with this setting or that setting to make it fully work, or exit and reload the meeting page.

@edwardp
The open source Jitsi Meet works very well with Vivaldi and with the Jitsi Meet app in Android, preferably from 'F-Droid'.
Even with Apple's iOS.
Problems almost always come from the Jitsi Meet server used.
This should have up-to-date software.
There are many different public Jitsi Meet servers. -
@ingolftopf Good to know. Thanks.

Tomorrow from 18:00 (CET)
"Digital Consultation Hour":
at the 'Literatur Café 7' on 'Jabber/XMPP'.
xmpp:[email protected]?joinQuestions, answers discussions on IT, PC, mobile/tablet via Jitsi Meet, without recordings and without stream.

Maybe someone here is also interested in such an event.

@ingolftopf I've now used Vivaldi with Jitsi Meet. No issues (see prior thread).
