This is for casting support on LAN devices. Please read:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simple_Service_Discovery_ProtocolWhy is Vivaldi connecting to google?
It needs to check for updated Chromium components. Please read:
https://vivaldi.com/blog/decoding-network-activity-in-vivaldi/ -
@Pathduck I know what they are, I don't know why they are here.
I don't want any cast service and I did not authorize one.
Also I did not authorize any direct requests from the browser to any machine in my local network.
And all of them (including updates) every 2 minutes? -
Two new connections to google after start :
I'm using snapshot on Linux, all extensions removed, browsing data deleted (including extensions data).
Any Ideea? -
@stilgarwolf They're DNS requests, so probably not to Google but to your DNS server asking for the IP of these addresses.
Could be anything really. I don't get these when starting on Windows. Possibly related to the Hangouts extension - have you enabled this? I have it enabled here as well, but don't see the request for
mtalk
.Would help with more information, doesn't this things of your have more info? Try opening the > button?
Also try using a proper network sniffer instead of something that tries to guess what IPs are being asked.

As mentioned in the article @Pathduck links to, "mtalk" is one server associated with site push notifications, e.g. used by news sites to send you information about what happens when you give them permission to do so. Maybe you have subscribed to such notifications?
the android host is AFAICT also associated with the same Google Services systems as mtalk.
-
No push notifications, no google services, no hangouts and no google DNS.
I forgot to disable "Use secure DNS" (in vivaldi://settings/security) which was reenabled (again!) after update and disabling it solved the requests to android.clients.google.com.
But the requests to mtalk.google.com remains.Deleting .config/vivaldi-snapshot/Default/Preferences solved the issue: I have no connections to mtalk.google.com, replaced by new ones to static.google.com, client2.google.com and client2.googleusercontent.com.
