I've been searching all over and the best answer was to try another browser. So Gmail address autocomplete still works in Firefox. It must be something in this browser.

Hi, where it does not work, in the address bar, email client?
Please add your Vivaldi and OS version, it was an update of Vivaldi 5.5 November 11, 2022 for example.

        Cheers, mib

Ok, should have said I reinstalled just to be sure with 5.5.2808.44x64. It must be the latest one.
In forwarding an email, there used to be a list pop up when I started the first letter.
Now I have to enter the entire addr.

SOLVED: So i've noticed weird things with saved bookmarks.
So I deleted my saved gmail site from the Start Up Pages.
              Restarted V...
Then I opened Gmail from a saved in the bookmarks
              and it works now!

Ok so web client, I have a TAB in Vivaldi https://mail.google.com/mail/...
and I tried two letters, it would bring up my contacts starting with that one letter before
              and two made no difference.

Also I'm a big fan of Vivaldi, especially the Translate sidebar function.
I'm English living in France, so I use it a lot, like to read a lot of my email.
