Using Extension Manager Causes Duplicated Extensions
-
I hope there is some way to fix this issue, any help would be greatly appreciated.
I recently tried to use an extension manager to be able to easily turn on and off all of my extensions quickly but discovered an issue/bug.
When I use the turn on/off all extensions feature in any extension manager I tried, it would cause all of my extensions to have duplicates (see attached image for reference).
The duplicates will disappear after either reloading the browser or upon opening a new browser window by middle mouse clicking on Vivaldi in the taskbar.
However when doing the middle mouse click to open a new window, the new window will not have the duplicated extensions but the original window will (see attached images for reference)
How to duplicate:
Install a bunch of extensions then install an extension manager.I used Extensity for this example: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/extensity/jjmflmamggggndanpgfnpelongoepncg
After installing Extensity or some other Extension Manager, click the disable/enable all extensions button a few times.
This will result in duplicated extensions which can be cleared by closing and reopening Vivaldi or middle mouse clicking Vivaldi in the taskbar to open a new window.

@slysnake96 I can reproduce this using a clean profile of Vivaldi 5.5 Stable, Win10 x64.
Please read:
carefully and report the bug to Vivaldi bugtracker
I'd guess issues with incompatible extensions are not high priority but since this appears to affect several extensions it might mean a bug in how the Vivaldi UI handles this.

@Pathduck
Thanks for checking out if this could be reproduced, I appreciate that.
I will make sure to report this via the bug report page when I have enough spare time again to get onto it. -
@slysnake96 Please contact author of extension first at https://github.com/sergiokas/Extensity/issues before you report a bug to Vivaldi tracker.

@DoctorG
No need I found out that the particular extension Extensity is in a list of Extensions that are broken in Vivaldi.Here is the link to that list:
https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/8129/19-sept-22-list-of-incompatible-extensions-guideHowever this also happens not just with Extensity but also with any other extension managers as well, just try my repeatable steps with literally any extension manager you can find in the chrome store and it will also occur with them too, therefore it is specifically Vivaldi that is the cause.
It seems highly improbable that it is caused by just one extension manager when it literally happens with every single extension manager I have tried it with that are in chrome store. -
I recommend this extension manager: SimpleExtManager

@barbudo2005
as @slysnake96 already said, the problem is the same with your recommended extension manager
