Testing new email soo many clicks...
-
Testing the new email feature and I love that it shows a visual icon indicator for new email on the side bar except it takes so many clicks. First I click on that icon, it opens the side bar, then I have to click on the inbox or email which opens the email, I then read or delete and I close the tab but have to again click to close the side bar again.
Isn't there a way to automatically open the email app without expanding the side bar? Or at least automatically close the side bar if I close the email tab?

@terere there are options to get there. Starting point: I have the mail tab pinned such that it never closes.
I have these settings checked:
Settings - Mail - "Display mail panel when viewing Mail" && "Open Panel automatically"Clicking on the pinned mail tab or going to the mail button in the status bar and selecting "show mail" now opens both panel and mail tab simultaneously, and selecting any other tab automatically closes the panel.
If you work only in a specific mail view and don't really switch to folders or labels etc, you can also just pin that mail tab and set it up to to not open the panel (which I think is the default). Play with the settings and see what works best for you.

Hi, I have that option checked already, but I don't want to have the mail pinned 24/7
I only want to check email when I see the icon by clicking it. When I click it, it does not open the email tab directly. It only opens the mail sidebar tab with my email inboxes folder first. I then have to click on the inbox or folder for that email, only then it actually opens the email in a new tab with the message in a new browser tab.
So now I have 2 clicks to get the message. I then read, delete the message, and now have to again, click or close the mail tab with the browser, and then again close the sidebar mail tab.
This requires basically 4 actions for every new message. I have setup Vivaldi only for a specific email account for alerts. Why can't I have the sidebar open the mail tab automatically when I click it, or at least close/minimize the sidebar again if I close the email tab. Usability wise this is bad GUI design.
I would actually prefer if the sidebar mail icon actually opens the mail tab when I click it but even if that is not possible having it automatically collapse would be a step forward instead of having to require that many clicks.
All other tabs in the sidebar do this by default. When you click then they open but then when they lose focus or click away, they close automatically, not the mail tab, it remains open which is not consistent with every other tab option in the sidebar like the reading list, window, etc.
